Savior
by That Girl With The Hat

I noticed a distinct lack of Dokorra fanfiction, and so I decided to fix that with a short and sweet Dokorra story.

Note: The Doorman doesn't actually have an official name. I decided to give him the temporary name Hyosuke until the Korra staff gives him an official one.

Disclaimer: I'm not Mike or Bryan. I'm really not.

Hyosuke nervously adjusted his tie and gripped the bouquet of flowers tightly as he walked toward the door of the Air Temple. He knew he was probably unwelcome, especially after Amon had tried to take the children's Bending. But he knew he had to try to speak to Korra anyway.

He knocked on the door and waited. A moment later, an Air Acolyte answered the door and studied Hyosuke suspiciously. "What can we do for you?" he asked.

"I'm here to see the Avatar. Is she here?"

"I believe she's eating lunch at the moment," the Acolyte replied. "Wait here. What's your name?"

"Hyosuke."

The Acolyte nodded and shut the door. Hyosuke waited, a few beads of sweat gliding down his neck. A minute later, the door slid open to reveal Korra. As soon as their eyes met, Korra's expression went from puzzled to furious. "What do you want?" she asked sharply.

Hyosuke held up his hands. "I'm not here to cause trouble," he said quickly. "I know this is probably out of line and I know I'm not the person you want to see right now. But I needed to find you."

Korra's eyes narrowed. "Why is it that you need to find me?" she demanded. "Payback for the rally?"

"No, no!" Hyosuke protested. "I wanted to apologize!"

Korra froze, staring at the man in surprise. "Apologize?" she repeated.

He nodded. "I needed to tell you that I'm sorry for everything," he said. "I was behind Amon all the way before. I thought he could make life here easier for non-Benders. I thought he was going to be our savior." Hyosuke's eyes shut and his tone grew bitter. "I never thought he'd attack children."

Korra's frown grew. "Is that the only reason you've come here?" she asked. "To apologize for Amon attacking the kids?"

He shook his head. "That's just what it took to wake me up to what Amon was really doing. I know now that what the Equalists were doing was wrong...and that my support of their actions was wrong."

He sighed, then held out the flowers. "These are for you," he said quietly.

Korra blinked, then took the bouquet of flowers. "What's this for?"

"My mother always told me that if I ever needed to apologize to a lady, it was best to bring flowers. I figured it couldn't hurt."

Korra let out a small laugh. "I don't know if you could really call me a lady, but thank you," she replied. "I accept your apology."

Hyosuke felt his entire body relax at those words. "Thank you, Avatar Korra," he replied.

"Please, call me Korra."

"All right, Korra it is." He smiled and turned to leave. "See you around."

"Wait," she said. Hyosuke glanced back in surprise. "Would you like to stay for lunch?" she asked.

Hyosuke's eyes widened. "Oh, no, I don't want to impose any more than I already have," he answered quickly.

"All right then," she said, shrugging. "Suit yourself."

He nodded. "Oh, and Korra? If you need an ally to help you out with restoring the peace, I'd be more than happy to help out."

She smiled. "Glad to hear it," she said. "Have a good day, Hyosuke."

He waved good-bye, then walked back to the docks to catch the ferry. For the first time since the rally, he felt hope.

Amon wasn't his savior after all. She was.
