After he started the fire and volunteered Naruto to take the first shift for the night, Sasuke walked to the large wooden shelter his team had come across while traveling back to Konoha from a mission. It was a one-room, open-faced stone shelter with two inner levels for passerbys to lay their luggage on the higher levels and sleep on the ground.
At least, if you were civilians. Shinobi never slept apart from what they carried if they could help it. And in shelters like these, shinobi used the higher levels to sleep in and placed traps at the opening and the floor around them.
Unless you were Naruto.
"I hate waking up and hitting rock all the time! We're sleeping on the ground."
"Fine. You'll be the bait."
"Don't be an ass and sleep on the ground like a normal person."
"I'm shinobi, not a normal person. And stop touching me. It's annoying."
Sasuke could feel the frown growing on his face as he recalled the idiotic exchange from earlier. Naruto had been complaining non-stop all throughout the mission; Sakura told him to put up with it because Naruto was going through some tough times (the feudal lord had denied Naruto permission to marry a Hyuuga heiress due to "incompatible bloodline" results), but Sasuke swore he'd knock Naruto unconscious for the rest of the trip if the blond didn't quit his bitching soon enough. A quick talk with Kage from supporting countries was bound to change the feudal lord's mind. Besides, the feudal lord was probably being finicky because of the mission Naruto botched two weeks ago that lead to a loss of trading partners from the Mine country. But Mine merchants were sketchy and nobody liked them, so who the fuck really cares about losing rights to trade there? Not Sasuke.
What he did care about was getting enough sleep before it was his turn to keep watch. It was only an hour to midnight; Sasuke hoped turning in now would get him ample sleep.
Sasuke turned at the wall to enter the shelter, but stopped short in sight of his teammate.
As there was usually little to no room for privacy on a mission, it was normal for them to walk in on each other in the middle of dressing. Sasuke had long gotten used to discovering when Naruto chose to go commando and seeing Sakura in her underwear, and they were pretty much unfazed when it came to seeing his undressed form in turn.
But until now, he never really saw his female teammate naked.
She didn't seem to notice him standing a little way behind her, watching the way she slipped a pair of white panties with small pink and green polka dots up her calves, her bare thighs, and then over the round cheeks of her ass. She picked out a black long-sleeved mesh shirt, which she pulled over her without sporting a bra, and plucked a pair of dark red shorts from a bag.
Then she turned.
His breath suddenly caught in his throat and he blinked, startled by the way she stared right into his eyes.
Sakura took slow, leisurely steps towards him, a nonchalant look on her face as if she didn't know that she had just treated him to a full show. Then, just as she passed by him, she turned slightly, a sly smile ghosting over her lips.
"See something you like?"
Sasuke swallowed, his mouth dry and unable to keep the heat from rising to his face. He heard her laugh, and turned.
She was laughing as Naruto cracked some joke and giving him a playful shove. Sasuke wondered if Naruto knew she wasn't wearing a bra underneath that shirt, wondered if Naruto ever walked in to see his teammate bare naked, wondered if Naruto noticed the way those shorts made her legs look longer than they should be—
Sasuke slapped a hand up to rub his face and groaned.
He wondered if it was too late to take the first night shift.
