Author:  Deliz

Summary:  Rory meets up with Tristan ten years down the road.

Rating:  PG

Author's Note:  I'm kinda new to FF.net.  I just joined yesterday, but I've been reading since November.  I hope you like my first attempt at what I hope will be the start of a great story!  (Also, Silver Spring, MD, is an actual place, but I'm not sure if the Silver Spring Gazette exists.  University Blvd. exists as well.)

This chapter:  A summary…

Rory locked her door and headed for her car.  She loved her town in Maryland.  Sure it was far away from Lorelai, Luke, and little Jessie, her toddler sister, but it was homey.  Jess and Paris lived around the corner, and Rory even worked with Paris.  The three were all good friends by that point.  Paris had eased up after graduation, and Jess had let some of his delinquent ways disintegrate.  SOME.

Rory's ex-boyfriend, Todd, was perfect.  He was a few inches taller than she was, with light red hair and gorgeous green eyes.  He had the heart of an angel, always thinking about what she might want, and always talking things over with her.  He liked her favorite books, enjoyed her favorite TV shows, and loved the exact same movies.  They were so perfect for each other, or so she thought.  Then, a few weeks ago, they'd been at lunch, and a woman about their age, with blonde hair and one of those smiles that makes her look like a beauty queen, approached them.

"Oh, hi Todd.  What time are we meeting for dinner?" she'd asked.

"I'm sorry, do I know you?"

"We've been dating for a month, Todd."  Rory flew off the handle.  Her boyfriend, her perfect, wonderful boyfriend, was cheating on her?  They'd fought, they'd broken up, and they'd avoided each other since the event.  It hadn't been hard.  They're offices were on opposite sides of town, and he lived a few miles away from her.

Today, however, was going to be a problem.  The newspaper Rory worked for, the Silver Spring Gazette, had been buying out a few local newspapers and a magazine or two, and the magazine Todd worked for, SS Weekly, would be meeting with Rory and her co-workers today to discuss prices, and Todd would be there.

As she drove down University Blvd she thought about everything she'd been through since her break-up with Dean.  That had been early in their senior year of high school.  They'd tried dating a few times after that, but in the end they decided they were better friends than anything.

Rory had attended Harvard, just as she'd always wanted to, and she'd dated some.  It had been there that she had first met Todd.  They met up again three years after graduation, and dated up until Rory's discovery of his cheating ways.

Rory was still thinking when she stopped at a traffic light, but was quickly drawn out of her dreamland when another car crashed into her from behind.

She got out of the car to inspect the damage, as did the driver of the other car.

"I'm so sorry," said the young man, "I guess I wasn't paying enough attention."

"Let's just discuss this after we've checked out the damage," Rory was worried about her car.  It had taken a number of paychecks to afford it, and she was remarkably attached to the beauty.

There didn't seem to be anything worse than a bent bumper on each car.  The two exchanged insurance information and continued on.

*Oh, dear God, Todd's gonna kill me, I crashed his car,* Tristan thought to himself as he climbed into the now dented Jaguar.  *That woman seemed so familiar.*

*Who was that guy?* Rory asked herself, *he seemed so familiar.*

Not great, but hopefully it will get better.  Review if you want to.
