Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who or "Name." They belong to the BBC or the amazing Goo Goo Dolls.
A/N: Okay this has to be the hardest song ever, to figure out that is. So I hope I have the meaning right, eventhough, after reading through it again I think it's about something a little different. Oh well. This is from Mickeys point of view on how Rose's new life is.
I Won't Tell Them Your Name
And even though the moment passed me by And now we're grown up orphans
I still can't turn away
'Cause all the dreams you never thought you'd lose
Got tossed along the way
And letters that you never meant to send
Get lost or thrown away
I watched her walk into the London Torchwood building. The very same building where she lost him forever, where she had died. And ironically, this is where her new life begins. And it never ceases to amaze me how she does it. In an instant the life she had known and loved was ripped from her. The life she never thought she'd let slip, shattered against that wall. Now here she is, picking up all those pieces too small to fit together. The thing is though, she may say she's Rose Tyler, but I know it's not her.
That never knew their names
We don't belong to no one
That's a shame
But if you could hide beside me
Maybe for a while
And I won't tell no one your name
And I won't tell them your name
In the other world, we were no one. Just numbers in the most recent consensus. We thought we had it all figured out. She had no A-levels, nothing that would help her in the future. Then she met him, the mysterious Doctor, who took her away for a year. And in that time she found herself. I saw it that day after he sent her home and she went back after him. I was nothing more than a tin dog then. But I'm all she has now.
Scars are souvenirs you never lose
The past is never far
Did you lose yourself somewhere out there
Did you get to be a star
And don't it make you sad to know that life
Is more than who we are
She stayed on that beach for five and a half hours after the transmission was cut. We stayed till the stars illuminated the sky. I could tell what she was thinking as she looked into the universe. She was looking for the answers. She was looking for the justice in it all. And perhaps, worst of all, she was thinking about those last moments back at Canary Wharf. And she was probably thinking about all those places they had planed to see, but never would. She sat, broken on the sands of Norway, and I couldn't do anything to help. But then something happened. After five and a half hours, she stood up and walked back to the car. And now, five and a half days later, she's facing her new life.
You grew up way too fast
And now there's nothing to believe
And reruns all become our history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio
And I won't tell no one your name
And I won't tell them your name
It's been six months since she started at Torchwood and already she's found a place here. But I know who she really is. They're impressed with her skills at handling alien communication, but she's done so much more than that! She was Rose Tyler, defender of the Earth. But that was the past, which is path hardly traveled. She puts on a brave face, and I know it's not only for us, but for him too. But she's alone. She hides within the shadows treads lightly. They ask me how she knows so much and why she's so distant. But I don't tell them.
I think about you all the time
but I don't need the same
it's lonely where you are come back down
Everyday I see her and I worry just a little bit more. I tell her I'll always be there, just like always. I still don't know how she does it. But I guess the only answer is: because she's Rose.
and I won't tell them your name
