This is a songfic based on TOFOG's (Thirty Odd Foot of Grunt- Russell Crowe's band) "Other Ways of Speaking" I wrote it a while ago, and thought I should put it up. Forgive the bad spelling- I don't have spell check.

I can't tell, if I want to know,
What's on your mind,
Should I just go.
It's a long way down from here
I better start with the stairs
It's a long way down from here

"What's wrong, Peter?" Will asked his older friend anxiously, coming over to him.
"I'm fine." He looked his friend in his eyes. Will looked away quickly.
"Watch should be ending soon." Will said lightly, trying to change the topic.
"And then sleep, and then watch again in... several more hours..."

You know there's other ways of speaking
Words are just the deep end
I'm not good at keeping your secrets from you

Peter look at Will.
"Something's bothering you. I know it."
"Do you." It was a statement, not a question. As the sun set, the red sun washed over their faces, disguising Will's scarlett face.

But I can't tell, if I want to know,
What's on your mind,
Should I just go.
It's a long way down from here
I better start with the stairs,
It's a long way down from here

"I can tell when something's wrong, Will. What is it?"
"Didn't I just ask you that?"
"How 'bout we both just say nothing's wrong." Peter said, smiling faintly. The bell rang out, ending their watch. Together, they returned downstairs, and entered the midshipmen's berth

You know there's other ways of speaking,
I can read you when you're sleeping
I can feel you when you're breathing
And breaking in two

Will lay listening to his friend's unsteady breathing as he started to fall asleep. He knew what was wrong. They both did. It was a choice, however, between the heart and between the crown, duty, and what was right.

But I can't tell, if I want to know
What's on your mind
Should I just go.
It's a long way down from here,
I better start with the stairs
It's a long way down from here

"You know what's wrong." Peter said quietly.
"What?" Will mumbled, lying. "No I don't."
"I think you do."
He met will's eyes and strove against them.

You know there's other ways of speaking
Words are just the deep end
I'm not good at keeping your secrets from you

Will nodded after a moment.
"I know." He whispered. "I-"
Peter put a hand over Will's mouth gently.
"There's other ways of speaking." He said quietly.
Gently, he placed a soft kiss over his friend's lips.

There's other ways of speaking

Lemme know what you think. First time posting stuff on
