A/N: Written for the Sailor Moon Flash Bingo at the SMFC (link's in profile, #106 - Pairing: Naru/Gorio

Pretty and Geek

Naru never thought she'd be dating someone like Gorio. After all, Gorio was the sort of person who only had eyes for books (and, for a while, Usagi for some unfathomable reason). If he looked at her, it was probably because he was being an idiot around Usagi…

Thought what about Usagi that made boys fall over her, Naru had no idea. Maybe it was her marks: Gorio jumped at the chance to tutor her…though Usagi never took them. Naru's marks were better, but she wouldn't turn down a free tutoring session. They could always be better still.

But at some point Gorio started paying attention to her. Little things like offering study sheets and study sessions, or giving her an apple at lunch times. Sweet little things that made her think she'd misjudged him before, that he was just trying to be friends and she had no reason not to be friends with him.

And then, one day, out of the blue he asked to go to the arcade with her. She couldn't imagine a stranger place to take him…but then again, Ami had looked just as out of place initially, but she fit in there quite well now.

She shrugged and took him. He brought her a drink and her tokens and asked her to teach him how to play. And it wasn't until a little while later that Naru realised he'd asked her, not because he wanted to play some games for fun, but because he wanted to be with her.

Her, not Usagi, and not his books. And while he wasn't her top choice of dream guys, she couldn't find herself minding much.
