Summary:
Zabuza makes a yearly trip.
Zabuza's arms had never really healed completely. They still went numb sometimes and their mobility remained restricted. He had barely survived that battle on the bridge.
He missed Haku…a lot, though he would never admit it. The boy had been a constant in his life for several years, and Zabuza had never realized how much he meant to him until he was gone. The snow that had fallen after his collapse had chilled his body, but warmed his frozen heart. It meant that there was still hope; hope that he could find Haku again…n the next life perhaps.
Once a year, Zabuza would return to the Land of Waves. He avoided the village, circumventing it to climb the hill where his charge was laid to rest. Coming to a stop in front of a long senbon needle thrust in the ground and the porcelain mask resting against it, he bowed his head for a moment. After the moment of silence, he sat down beside the impromptu headstone and set two sake cups side by side. He pulled a gourd from his pack and gently transferred the clear liquid to both cups. He raised his own to his forehead, acknowledging his companion, then took a sip. Setting his cup down, he turned his attention to the mask.
"Hello Haku."
