A/N: This is my first fic, and I'm deliberating if I should make this story a long one or a one-shot, so I just published the first chapter. Oh, and I borrowed some lines from Twilight (and I don't own any of that; Twilight belongs to the glorious Stephenie Meyer). Hope you like it. Please review. :)

Am I dreaming or what?

Seriously, I have no idea.

But knowing I am not able to sleep and dream anymore, I took in the fact that what I am seeing is true.

There's no doubt – this woman is the most beautiful creature in the whole world. Scratch that; she's the most beautiful creature in the entire universe.

She had a beautiful figure, the kind you saw on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, the kind that made every girl around her take a hit on her self-esteem just by being in the same room. Her hair was golden, gently waving to the middle of her back. Her pale porcelain skin and golden eyes were perfect for her. It accentuated her extraordinary beauty more. Being a vampire fitted her perfectly.

I watched from afar as she played with her little vampire niece. Her graceful moves and her fancy dress added more to her appeal. But then, the most wonderful of her features are her heart-melting smiles – it literally took my breath away.

I took a whiff of air, hoping to catch her scent. I put aside the smell of moss and the smell of the damp soil and the smell of animals…I set aside all the other scents of human and vampires and any other creature. It took only little concentration to finally catch her scent.

A combination of lilac and vanilla.

I went back to concentrating and tuned out every sound I heard, like the hooves of a herd of elk, the flapping of a bird's wings, the voices of other humans and vampires so I could hear her voice.

I finally achieved what I want and smiled in triumph when I heard her sweet musical voice.

If my heart was able to collapse, it would've collapsed already. Everything about her is beautiful. Her face, her eyes, her smile…even her scent!

This was the first time I have ever seen her, and I'm already hypnotized by her. I know that sounds like total crap, but really, if a vampire could be hypnotized, I'd be completely under her spell right now. She's just so…mesmerizing.

Yeah, mesmerizing…that's the perfect word for her presence. I smiled at the thought of that.

Don't get too attached, you know the chances of the two of you being together are zero.

I sighed and looked at her for the last time before I go back to my clan. I've been gone for quite a long time now, and they'll start looking for me if I stay here any longer.

Hoping I'd somehow see her again someday, I turned my back and started to run through the forest.

Goodbye, beautiful, I thought out loud.
