James Potter Jr. was a boy with a problem. And his problem just happened to be his best friend. Yeah, that's right, his best friend. That friend was Teddy Lupin. Because Teddy Lupin was HOT! And James definitely noticed. Teddy was also two years older than him, and as far as James knew he was straight. Teddy already knew that James was gay and was okay with it, but how would he react if he knew that he'd fallen in love with him? James didn't think he wanted to find out. Little did he know he didn't have much choice in the matter.

"Hey, James?" Teddy asked skipping a stone across the the Black Lake.

"Yeah," James responded sitting up where he had been laying in the grass.

"What would you do if liked someone, but didn't know if they liked you back?" Teddy asked staring out at the lake and continuing to skip rocks across it. James shifted uncomfortably and held his breath to keep from saying, 'I'd hide it from you like I've been doing!'

When he finally recovered his breathing abilities he said:

"Well, considering the odds that any other bloke in the school is gay I suppose I really don't have to worry about that because I'm pretty sure if I liked a guy at this school he wouldn't like me back,"

"But if you knew that they were gay, what would you do?" Teddy asked. James began to wonder what Teddy was talking about. Guess there was only one way to find out. He stood up and walked over to in front of his friend.

"Well, I guess I' do something like this," he said kissing Teddy softly on the lips. For a moment he was sure he'd ruined their friendship forever. Then Teddy started to kiss him back, snaking his arms around James' thin waist and pulling him up against his own body. James put his arms around the taller boy's neck, his heart racing with excitement, and they stood there kissing for a few minutes before they parted reluctantly.

"Uh, sorry. I shouldn't have done that," James said backing away. Teddy took James' hands in his own and held him in place smiling down at him.

"Why not? That's exactly what I've been trying to tell you, you're the one I like," he said.

"I am?" James asked thinking it was too good to be true.

"Of course you are. And then one of the girls told me she thought you liked me and I thought it was impossible, but then I decided it was worth a shot, and she was right!" Teddy answered pulling James back into his arms and kissing him lightly.

"I love you," Teddy whispered. James felt his breath stop in his throat. He couldn't believe his ears. He was sure it must be a dream, but it felt very real so...

"I love you too," he answered pressing their lips together again. As he stood there he began to wonder what this made them, better friends, boyfriends was Teddy just kidding, or experimenting? He broke the kiss to voice this concern. Teddy smiled gently and answered,

"Whatever you want us to be. But I'm not kidding, and I'm not just playing with the idea. I love you, James, and I was kind of hoping we could be boyfriends, but if you don't don't want to..."

"Of course I want to," James replied excitedly kissing his new boyfriend yet again. This time he felt Teddy's tongue run over his lower lip to ask entrance into James' mouth. James opened his mouth almost immediately and their tongues danced around each other lovingly for what must have been hours before they needed to breathe and broke the kiss.

"I guess this means we're a couple?" Teddy asked hopefully.

"Yes, it does," James replied smiling. "Let's go inside, it's getting late." So the two young boys walked back up to the Gryffindor common room hand in hand.
