Vlad keptwaiting.

After everything changed on that fateful day, Vladimir Masters was different. He never felt so weak in his life. He had a condition, a rare one that the doctors didn't quite know how to cure. Each day he felt weaker than the last, but although they told him that his condition wasn't worsening, he felt closer to a grim future with every passing second. He was afraid that soon he would be a full ghost, instead of whatever he was now.

It wasn't the Ecto-Acne.

It wasn't because of his new secret.

It was because he was waiting.

Vlad's room had no phone, but he didn't want to beg. He didn't want to talk over the phone.

Where were his friends?

Why hadn't he gotten any flowers?

Teddy-bears?

Cards?

Visits?

Each day he stared at the door, but all that came was the cold nurse with the stiff face and the brand new medicine they were sure would "have him out of there in a week, tops." Everyday, he just felt himself get weaker.

Hadn't they promised they'd be together forever? Best Friends?

Where was Maddie?

Where was Jack?

He didn't know about how Maddie cried at the reception desk.

He didn't know about all the forget-me-nots that wilted in the lobby, waiting just to be sent up.

He didn't know about the three orderlies Jack valiantly tried to take down.

He never did find out about the sign outside his door marked "Quarantine"

Vlad keep waiting.
