When Only One Can Reach My Soul..

Everytime I try to write a serious fanfic, I screw up. Maybe I'm not cut out for it. It I'm going to try anyway. Wanna know why? I don't know why. So don't ask me. Ack. Here goes.

I laid out on the grass outside the hotel we were staying at in Lacour. It was kind of quiet out. But it was late. Who'd expect the streets to be filled with people at 1:00 AM. I believe I was the only one awake, so I sang to myself quietly, a little song I'd written a long time ago.
"When the candle's burning low,"
I twisted a piece of grassing my hand, staring at it as if it were to tell me what my heart was feeling at the moment. It had been a long day, and I was really tired, but I couldn't sleep. I'd laid down, but I just couldn't bring myself to shut my eyes.
"It glimmers upon your face,"
I tossed the grass aside and sat up. I looked over at the window I'd left open, and stared into it. Rena, my room mate for the night, was asleep.
"And this obsession with you I know,"
I laid out on my back, and started counting stars, letting my voice cresendo louder and louder as I continued on into my song.
"Will take a costly toll,"
I let the crickets be my background music. They were chirping right along with my melody. It was almost as if they were actually there to accompany me.
"Will guide me to another place,"
I let my voice grow a little louder. I knew, if anyone was awake, they could've heard me. But no one was awake at this hour. At least I hope. I'd never let anyone even read the words to my song, so it would be quite akward if someone overheard me singing it.
"And I feel it inside,"
I let the tempo take ahold of the lyrics, and the steady beat of the crickets be my metronome.
"So deep in my soul,"
I sat up, and sang a little bit louder, not being as shy as I was about a verse ago. There was just something about the way I felt so..alone.
"You are the one,"
Why did my lyrics sound so corny to me all of a sudden? Some cliche of a song you'd heard over a million times?
"To guide me to my home,"
And who was I singing about? Or to? Did I myself even know?
"The Only one to reach my soul,"
Could it be Ashton? Claude? Leon? Who?
"When guideance is needed,"
All I knew, is that it felt good to be singing it..
"The only one to get me though,"
And I enjoyed singing it..
"When I'm lost and I'm pleeding,"
That is, until...
"A Time when you and I can be,"
Until..
"Together, Free,"
Until..
"When Only one can reach my soul.."
That is, until I heard a creak. It was like the sound of a window opening. It stuck out in the calm of the night like a sore thumb. I looked around, and wanted to scream 'Who's there?!' but that would be stupid. I found the window, yet I didn't see who was there...
It didn't matter.. As long as they didn't hear me singing.
