"Cold"
A Harry Potter Song-Fic
Skin so cold, I knew you'd go away.
The woman shook her head sorrowfully, brushing a lock of red hair out of the fallen woman's face. She was smiling, the fallen woman, her body was in no way broken or twisted, but she was dead.
And now I put you down to lay.
She moved on the the other body, in a similar condition as the other, but instead of dying serene-faced, he had died with a stoic, set gaze. Of someone brave facing their last moments of life. The woman kneels, kissing his cold forehead.
"One final, graven, kiss." She whispers before rising.
Closer, closer it's time to surrender to the desire you cannot mention.
From somewhere in the smuldering rumble come the high-pitched cries of a child. The woman burns her fingers trying to reach the sound, burried somewhere in the ash and white-hot cinder.
Don't try to breathe, don't try to run away.
With two dead bodies on either side of her, she tried not to think about the smell of burning hair that permiated the air. Finally, she unearths a bundle of bloody blankets.
But I'm reaching for the sky. Won't you please stay?
She quiets the bundle, holding a baby close to her breasts and rocking on her heels. No tears came, which upset her. She wanted to cry, but she wasn't really human and unicorns don't cry. It's not in their nature.
With a smile I watch you go. You'll never know I didn't cry.
With a smile I watch you die, you'll never know I didn't cry.
"Alhana?" from somewhere in the eerie red-blackness of Godric's Hollow, a voice sounds. Alhana rises, cursing herself for not breaking down when she saw him. Sirius Black… Something cold graced her cheek, a raindrop? No, she toucher her free finger under her eye, a tear!
No more fear…
Sirius takes the child and the three embrace.
They said you were so weak
"This fate wasn't meant for them….How could the stars be so cold?" she sobbed, joyful and greif-filled at the same time.
And now I put you down to lay. Nothing to feel for you, this was our last dance.
Alhana was guilty because she didn't really cry at her friend's passing. There was a reason, though. Somehow, they left behind a beautiful legacy. Such a small child, shouldn't ever be alone again, she desided. The child would be alone though. She was more reluctant to give him up than Sirius was, and he was the child's godfather.
"Cold…" says the boy. He stares out the small cubard window. Why did the stars aways seem so alone to him? He didn't really like them all that much, anyway. They reminded him of a vauge, almost unreachable memory on a night so clear.
