Hermione was lying in bed. The Yule Ball had just ended and with that her row with Ron. He was jealous that she had gone out with Viktor Krum and had accused her of 'kissing up to the enemy'.

"Stupid Git" she said as her eyes swelled up with tears

Well Viktor was the perfect gentleman. He gave her a good evening. Ron had barely noticed she was a girl, until he realized he had no date. She had maintained her pride and turned him down then and had gone with Viktor.
