She was trapped in endless darkness. a terrifying darkness as thick as tar and full of endless noises, all worst then then next. she fought her way through the darkness with no avail. Where was he? He always came for her!
It was only a small puls at the back of his mind, a miniscule feeling. In his dreamlike trance, heavy with sleep he paid no attention to it. Suddenly that once small pulse exploded into full outright terror so powerful he jolted awake. The doctor sat up and looked beside him, rose lay peacefully upon her pillow, snoring lightly and smiling in contempt at some unknown dream. a tinny voice filled his mind that raised the hair on his skin and filled him with endless dread
"Daddy! Daddy please….Please help me!" the doctor threw his covers and jumped from his bed dashing with such speed that rose was startled awake. throwing open the door he, felt the terror in the voice increase with every step as he ran from the room panicked. His baby girl needed him! she was in trouble! (thankfully the tardis had put her room close to theirs). the doctor reached her room and hastily opened the door to see his three year old daughter weeping in fright, still caught in her dream. He ran to her bed and picked her up, gently cradling her small shaking frame in his arms.
"wake up love, its ok...its alright i'm here now." slowly the doctor felt his white cotton shirt soak with tears as his daughter woke. "their their love, I have you now...Its alright." she whimpered and hiccuped
"D..D..Daddy?" he looked down into her little tear stained eyes
"Im right here baby, It's all right...it was only a dream love." she snuggled into his now wet shirt relinquishing in the comfort he brought her.
"I was so scared daddy, I...I could not get out."
"Its alright love, Im here now." he comforted her, lovingly placing a kiss upon her head. she sighed relaxing a bit as he hummed the o so familiar tune of an old gallifreyan lullaby he always sang her.
She told him of the horrible darkness that held her so tightly, and all those awful voices that would not let her go. the only held his little girl tighter slowly stroking her tiny arm in comfort. as her breathing slowed he kissed her upon the head "go to sleep love, I have you, you're safe." the little girl relaxed and sighed in content and mumbling.
"thank you daddy…. thank you for always coming." he only smiled and kissed her once more upon the head before noticing rose at their daughters door. He probably startled her awake when he ran from the room. rose walked from her position at the door and sat besides her husband- still cradling their daughter- and whispered.
"I think that perhaps she should sleep in our bed with us tonight." he smiled and kissed her softly upon the lips.
"i couldn't agree more."gently he stood up, shifting their daughter a bit and walked out of the room. Grabbing their daughters stuffed baby adipose and tardis blue blankie, rose quickly followed behind him into their room. the doctor softly laid their little girl down in between them and tucked her toy and blanket under her arm before covering her, his wife, and himself. Rose snuggled up to their daughter, wrapping her arms around her and holding close as she slowly drifted off into sleep. he looked upon his wife and daughter as they sleep, smiling he snuggled close to them wrapping his arm around rose, keeping their daughter safely protected between them. He would always protect them, and no matter where he was, he would always be there to protect them.
