"What am I, Xephos?" Honeydew asked, looking at himself in the mirror. He had learned or maybe just accepted that he had been changed within the walls of Yoglabs and not in a good way.

Xephos refused eye contact but he knew that running away wasn't an option this time. The bearded man had been so easily fooled for so long and he wished that it had stayed that way. He never wanted to face this. "You're Honeydew..."

"No," He turned away from his sickening reflection to look into the other mans eyes. "I am not Honeydew. Look at me."

He didn't want to look. He knew exactly what he would see. A man whose trust had been broken and things even worse than that. Still, he turned his gaze to meet his, "There's nothing wrong..."

"Nothing?" Honeydew scoffed, "I'm not even human anymore."

The circuitry beneath his skin was exposed. He had pulled it away just to confirm his fear. The sight made Xephos realize that he needed to step up and face him. "You're the same person you've always been."

"Bullshit!" Honeydew exclaimed, angrily. "I'm... I'm-"

"Alive," Xephos said, "You're alive and that's all that matters."

"No!" He screamed back, "I'm wrong! This isn't... I'm not supposed to be like this..."

The anger fell into grief and Xephos tried to keep himself from raising his voice. "You have every right to be angry but I won't apologize for what I've done..."

He raised his head, "What you've done?" This realization made him seethe with anger as he took steps toward him. "You did this to me?"

"I couldn't lose you... It had to be done..."

"You bastard!" He grabbed his collar. "You had no right!"

They looked into each others eyes. One, incredibly angry. The other, doing nothing to stop the abuse.

"Say something..." Honeydew grumbled.

"There's nothing to say..."

He tsked, throwing a punch at the man, knocking him to the floor. "I can't stand you..."

Xephos clutched his face, "You don't understand."

"Whatever..." Honeydew spat, rubbing his hand.

"Just look at me..."

Between the cracks of Xephos fingers, the bits of circuitry under his skin was now exposed. He had hidden this along with everything else.

"Why?" Honeydew asked, not sure what else to say at such a sight.

"We were dying. You were dying..." He looked up at him with a strained smile. "I fixed us so we could be together again."

"Xephos, I..."

"You won't remember. All of it was wiped from your mind. I wanted to continue on like nothing ever happened. To forget that horror because we had finally... finally..."

"Finally what?"

His face grew red in embarrassment. "We had finally started going out..."

Now Honeydews face was red, "W-what? I don't remember that..."

"That's because that was accidentally wiped away too," He said, sadly. "And I could never bring it up to you again..."

Honeydew could barely believe it. "So in the end, you were okay with becoming like this, remembering everything on your own, and even lying to me just so we could live?"

He nodded slowly, trying to hide his embarrassment. "I love you, Honeydew... and you loved me too..."

He was touched by this and didn't care about what was under his skin anymore. Whatever he was, it clearly didn't matter to Xephos. He was alive and from now on, they would be in this together. Living this way wouldn't be so bad.

A/N: I remembered that I love writing Honeyphos… I will try to do it more.
