"Max, you gotta belieeeve!" Angel said, jumping up and down excitedly.
"I am believing!" I replied, frowned.
"No, you're doing it wrong. You gotta believe like this!" she flapped her white wings quickly. After a couple of seconds she lifted off the ground and smiled in triumph. It was always so breathtaking to see her fly.
"You can't fly when you're mad, Max."
"Yeah, I can," I scoffed. "It's called an adrenaline rush. I've had many of those."
"BEEEEEELIEEEEEEEVE!" a voice called from nowhere. Gazzy came up from behind and jumped up into the air. "Who's awesome?" he said, gaining altitude. "The Gasman!"
"Okay, fine," I said. These kids were never going to leave me alone!
I unfolded my wings and flapped at the air. After not even a second, my feet were off the grass.
"See? I'm flying. I'm believing, or whatever."
"Yeah," Angel answered. "But you're not-"
"I believe I can fly!" Gazzy sang, making circles around their heads. "I believe I can touch the sky!"
Fang came outside and shouted, "What is that horrendous noise?!"
Gazzy continued, "All I wanted was a chicken wiiiiing, from McDonalds or Burger Kiiiiiiiiing,"
"That's even worse than the Constipation Song." Nudge remarked beside me.
"I'm just sayin'." He said and flew higher.
"So, what's going on out here?" Fang asked, hands in his pockets, looking from me to Angel. He raised his eyebrows in suspicion.
"Max isn't believing," Angel said simply.
"In case you don't know," I told him. "In order to fly the right way you have to believe."
"Oh," he said. "That's easy." His black wings unfolded as well, and he easily got himself in the air. Of course, we've been doing this for how many years? I can fly- all of us can. So what was up with this 'believing' nonsense. We might be a band of on the run flying kids, but the last time I checked I was the leader, not Peter Pan.
"See, he's believing." Angel nodded encouragingly.
"Will you stop that!" I said loudly, so it echoed through the trees. "Believe. Believe! Believe! I am believing, so much in fact, I can fly higher and faster than all of you combined together!" I won. Who's believing now?
