Author's Note: Okay, I caved. I know I said before that I didn't do guy/guy relationships, but I hate making OC's. And after a while, your brain starts to hurt trying to think of good stories for really minor characters. So here it is, the Dream Pair. I have to admit they're a pretty hot couple. Sorry, the Golden Pair just doesn't really work for me. It's a little too sappy for my taste. Oh, by the way, I didn't know whether I should use first names or last names to refer to the characters so I just used what seemed natural. That's why some are them are called by their first name (Eiji and Ryoma), and everyone else is called by their last.
SUGAR RUSH
"Ya hoi!"
Eiji's voice rang out in the dreariness of the early morning. He bounded up the sidewalk in what was practically a skip towards the other Seigaku regulars gathered by the tennis courts, making sure to turn the last step into a giant leap as he landed inches away from Ryoma.
"Good morning, nya! Today's such a wonderful day. Well actually it's really cloudy, but I just feel so happy today. How about you, ochibi? You feeling good today, too?"
Eiji wrapped an arm around the prodigious freshman, nearly choking him. Wincing at the physical contact, Ryoma tugged at his hat to keep it from falling off his head.
"Kikumaru-senpai, are you okay?"
"Nya? I'm fine. I'm more than fine actually. I feel great. Why do you ask?"
"I don't know. You're just acting weird."
"How mean, Ochibi. You shouldn't treat your senpai like that. It'll get you in a lot of trouble some day."
Eiji proceeded to give the rookie a playful noogie, giggling like an elementary school child as he did so. Ryoma wasn't wrong, however. Kikumaru Eiji was acting a bit strange. The pace of his speech, which consisted of fewer breaths and more nya's than usual, had quickened to an almost incomprehensible level, and when he stood, he rocked back and forth on his toes constantly, finger twitching with excitement.
"You had coffee, didn't you?" Momoshiro accused the overly energetic acrobat.
"Me? No, I hate coffee. It's too bitter, unless you add a lot of milk to it, but then I guess if you add too much, it wouldn't be coffee, nya. So yeah, no coffee. I had ice cream though."
Kawamura arched an eyebrow. "Ice cream for breakfast?"
Eiji nodded his head vigorously. "Yep, I looked out the window and saw that it was all gloomy. So I thought some ice cream might cheer me up, and it did. I had the whole tub."
"The whole tub? No wonder you're so jumpy today. All that sugar's affecting you," Oishi said in a rather reprimanding tone, something only expected from the mother of Seigaku.
"Nya? Is it? I guess I do have a little bit more energy today, but other than that, I don't really feel a difference. But then again, do you normally feel a difference when you're on a sugar rush? I never…"
Ryoma, who had managed to make it out of Eiji's grip, gave a frustrated sigh. "Can someone shut him up? He's too loud."
Out of the crowd, Fuji walked up to the still rambling Eiji and grabbed him by the collar of his jersey. In one swift motion, he pulled him closer, abruptly pressing their lips together.
For the first time that morning, Eiji was silent.
Fuji turned back to the shocked faces of the other Seigaku regulars, wearing the same composed smile he always wore. He gave a small laugh.
"You're welcome."
