And I can tell by the smell of that perfume, it's like forty dollars too cheap

Rosie Duncan looked up hearing her best friend laugh, they were at the McMahon house using their pool and Jaycee was being chased around the poolside by her soon to be uncle Shane. "Ro! Save me!" She exclaimed climbing over the chairs that surround the pool. "Oh no Jaycee, you are on your own with this." She laughed as she stood up and moved away from the blonde that was trying to reach her. Shane laughed as well as he finally caught up with her. "No! No! Shane put me down!'

"What do you say Jay?" He asked hovering her over the pool. "Please!" The oldest McMahon sibling looked thoughtful for a minute before tossing her into the water. Rosie stood on her toes and looked over the chair and laughed as her friend surfaced coughing. She laughed and shook her head before sitting back on the chair and closed her eyes. She peaked an eye open when she heard another splash, Jaycee had pulled Shane into the pool when he went to help her out of it. She seemed almost happy. Something that she hadn't been in Ohio, it was a refreshing change.

Her trance was broken by Jaycee's father's voice, she opened her eyes and glanced up at him. "Sorry didn't mean to bother you. Everything okay?" Hunter Helmsley asked sitting down next to her. "Yeah, Jay was teasing Shane, and he threw her in the pool." Hunter glanced at his daughter who had just pulled herself up on the edge and Shane was in the pool aiming to splash her. "Are you okay with staying with us?" He asked, he and Stephanie had been discussing Rosie staying with them until both girls were 18 and then they could decide what they wanted to do. Stay with them or go back to Ohio.

Personally he hoped that they would stay for awhile. As much as he feared having a teenage daughter, he almost felt at ease with it now. Sure there was temper tantrums and tears but it was to be expected. At least that is what his parents and Vince and Linda told him.

"Yeah my mom doesn't care. The only one that really does is my uncle, and he understands that Jaycee comes first." Hunter nodded his head as he watched Jaycee kick her feet out and splash Shane who was trying to near her to pull her into the pool with him. "You know that she wants that from you. She wants a dad that is there for her. She feels like she really doesn't have a relationship with you." "And what about you Rosie? What do you want?" He didn't want to talk about him and Jaycee right at the moment, that time would come right now he wanted to focus on Rosie.

Rosie fell silent and chewed on her bottom lip, she had no idea what she wanted. She knew that she wanted to get herself out of the living situation she was in. But deep down she knew that she wanted what Jaycee had. She wanted a family, a dad that loved her and wanted to protect her, a soon to be step mom that loved her even though she was scared. Not to mention an extended family that loved her.

Hunter licked his lips waiting for her to answer him. She tore her eyes away from Jaycee and Shane and looked at him. "I want someone to love me." Hunter tilted his head as he looked at her. "I want a family. I thought that I would be okay but I am not. I want what Jaycee has. I knew that we were getting her out there was for her own good. But I didn't think I would miss her this much or be jealous like I am." "It's okay to be jealous Rosie. But you are a part of this family now. And the rest of that stuff will come later." Hunter said.

"How can you be sure?" She asked. He tilted his head in his daughter's direction. "That's how I can be sure. She wouldn't even call me dad when she first moved in but now look at her." He said. Rosie looked over at her best friend and nodded her head. That was a good point. If Jaycee could do this then so could she. "Thanks Hunter." She said before leaning over and hugging him. He froze for a second before hugging her back. He squeezed his eyes shut and took a deep breath. The spicy scent of her perfume filled his nose, and he felt overwhelmed this was going to be a major problem. He shouldn't be feeling like this not with him being weeks away from asking Stephanie to marry him.

After a heartbeat Rosie pulled away and stood up. She went over to the pool and pushed Jaycee into the pool. Shane started laughing and clapped his hands together. "Ro!" "What?" She laughed putting her hands on her hips. "You let your guard down. Not my fault." She laughed. Hunter shook his head as Stephanie stepped out on the walk way. "What's going on?" She asked. "Nothing the girls are just having fun. That's all."
