Author's Note: This isn't exactly a new story. It's a side project to my main project—not that they are related. This "story" is just going to be a series of vignettes about Rory and Logan's relationship through three seasons—not much in season 7, that season bothered me.
The first chapter isn't long… but that's only because it's the prologue… the rest of my chapters will be much longer. winks.
This first part is set during "You Jump, I Jump Jack."
Official Disclaimer: I don't own anything, just my laptop… named Clarence… he's a treat.
As Time Goes By
Prologue
The wind whips her hair around and every step on top of the newly constructed tower is cautious. She's afraid of falling, she's skittish because of the lack of guardrails protecting her from plummeting, certainly, to her death. She doesn't know what she's doing here and she finds herself wanting to craw back down the metal ladder in shame. She's scared—scared of dying and scared that she'll enjoy the rush that her jumping partner seems to frivolously live off of, it seems to be his oxygen.
Everything about the situation seems silly, everything thing points to the obvious solution to her feeling of dread—abort. But his words from earlier plaque her mind. He thinks she's sheltered—another word for boring. She doesn't know why, but she doesn't want him to think of her like that. She wants him to find her fascinating, unreachable—then maybe she could stop obsessing over his infuriating smirk and elitist persona, because it would mean that he wanted her, but she didn't want him back. He wanted her to try something different, something stupid—she didn't play stupid. She didn't get to where she was by being stupid… however, allowing a boy she hardly knew to blindfold her and cart her around in front of dozens of people she didn't know, at a location she was unaware of did not add up to being one of her smartest moves.
She never planned on taking her article to this level. She had planned on him buying her bluff, so she'd be able to simply interview him—pick his brain. But he had challenged her—mostly with his eyes—and she found herself planning on hiding in his bushes outside of his apartment, just to prove to him that she was capable of being a sleuth. Then, he had contacted her—he had challenged her with his eyes again—and she couldn't help but let her curiosity get the best of her. She couldn't help but wonder how deep the rabbit hole went.
Now, she was dressed in lovely, blue, chiffon dress—clutching onto an umbrella, seven stories above the ground with a boy she supposedly hated. Looking over at him—eager for the next adventure he was about to embark on—she couldn't think of a single reason to back down, she was catching his enthusiasm through osmosis, she guessed. As she stood next to him, her heart started to beat rapidly… and it wasn't because of her fear of heights. Their close proximity allowed her to realize that she was participating in her story more than she thought she was.
When he grabbed her hand, it created more of a charge than the fall did. Falling with—for—him never felt so natural.
Author's Note: Yeah, I know… short… the other ones will be longer… I promise. REVIEW, REVIEW, REVIEW! If you don't like this "story' then I won't continue to post it. ;) Let me know what you think.
