A/N: Well, I've decided to write the sequel anyway. Only took like two fucking years, hah.
Thank you all so much for your support over the years, and enjoy.
It had been two years since Rose left. Kanaya often had nightmares of that night. Vriska nearly killing her, only to witness Rose crush her attackers body with those tentacle-like masses with ease. She would wake up in a cold sweat, sometimes scream, and cry herself back to sleep. She wished, hell, she prayed that Rose would one day return, but she knew deep down in her heart that she would not. She underwent counseling, took medication, anything that would help her get over the trauma. It would always seem to work, but then she would have flashbacks.
Roxy would often visit her, which she greatly appreciated, their past tension fading into obscurity as they bonded over that year's events. Kanaya had been the one to tell her what happened. That Rose had killed Vriska. Though she made sure to omit the glowing black tentacles, and... pretty much anything that happened that was other-worldly, lest she too be labelled crazy.
Kanaya had attended Vriska's funeral. Despite everything that Vriska had done in the past, she still cared. She thought she should pay one last visit, even if it was just the open casket ceremony, before it was to be buried. There hadn't been many people at the funeral, just a few of Vriska's friends, or so Kanaya presumed. She hadn't met any of them, apart from one. Terezi Pyrope. She was a detective. She had been Vriska's best friend, but they hadn't been in contact since she was admitted. Kanaya walked up to her.
"... Hello Terezi. It's been a while" she said to the redhead. "How have you been?"
The blind girl turned around, recognising Kanaya voice. She didn't smile.
"Oh, would you look at that. You actually showed." Kanaya frowned.
"Of course I did, why-"
"You'd think that a murderer would lay low. And coming to her funeral? That's just fucked."
Kanaya blinked, tears forming in her eyes. "You don't actually think I killed Vriska, do you?" Terezi shrugged.
"Why wouldn't you? I heard what happened. Even if it was in self-defense, you choked her. You murdered her! And blaming it on 'another intruder'. What is wrong with you? Are you that desperate to avoid going to prison? You and Vriska were the only ones there! Even the blind can see that you're to blame!" She sneered, her own tears falling down her face.
Kanaya shook her head. "I had nothing to do with her death. It was someone else." she said, turning to leave. "I wish I could say it was nice to see you again." She then left, heading to her car.
"I'll prove that you're guilty! Justice will be served!" Terezi screamed out as Kanaya drove off.
Kanaya watched as she passed the graveyard where the funeral was being held. She couldn't believe Terezi thought it was her! How dare she-
Wait.
Did... Something just crawl out of the casket?
Two years later and Kanaya was still thinking about the funeral. About what she saw. Surely her eyes must have been playing tricks on her. But then again. She sighed as she got out of the shower, drying herself as she got changed into her pyjamas. She wasn't really tired, but she had to get up early in the morning. Terezi had issued another court appearance over Vriska's death. Apparently she had new evidence. She really wasn't going to give up, was she? Kanaya sighed again as she got into bed. Just as she did, she heard an all-too-familiar knock on the door. Her heart started racing. She stood up and walked over to the front door, her breathing getting heavy. With a sweaty hand, she slowly opened the door. She nearly fainted when she saw who was on her doorstep.
"... Vriska?"
