Maka had looked into Soul's crimson eyes many times, but only this time did she notice their gleam. It was the same gleam that reflected off the Demon Scythe's blade, when the sunlight hit it just right. The only gleam, that could bring a warm, gentle smile to her face. It was this gleam, that started it all.
Soul and Maka were sitting at the dining room table enjoying lunch with their friends BlackStar, Tsubaki, Liz, Patty, and Kid. "Yummy lunch, Maka!"Patty said breaking the silence that filled the air.
"Yeah, it was pretty good. even if it did come from a box!" Liz giggled at her own statement. The Thompson sisters always had something good to say.
" I demand a refund!" Kid shouted across the table to Soul and Maka.
"You didn't even pay money for that!" the weapon-meister pair yelled back in unison.
"Even so, I had 887 noodles in my bowl of Mac-n-Cheese," Kid exclaimed ", and might I add, they were very sad excuses for noodles! They were so puny!" Kid's constant complaining was nothing new, but everyone got tired of it at some point.
"C'mon, Kid. We're going home now." Liz gave a wave to the rest of the gang, who was still sitting at the table.
"I don't want to go home yet! I was supposed to play video games with Soul and BlackStar later!" Kid complained once again.
"Patty!" Liz called.
"Yeah, Sis?"
"Speech. Now."
Patty looked down at the young Shinigami. *AHEM* " Get your ass movin', damn you!"
"But...but..." Kid had a pouty face. His eyes were starting to tear up at the sound of Patty's motivational speech.
"Fall into bitter agony you bastard!" Patty yelled agressively.
" Alright. Fine. I'm movin', I'm movin'" Kid walked out the front door with his hung down looking at the toes of his shoes. He gace a half-assed wave to his friends and shut the door behind him.
" Wow. Sometimes I wonder how his parents could stand to raise him. But, still. He's our friend and we have to find a way to understand. Even if it is hard sometimes." Maka gave her pals a smile. "Who wants seconds?"
"Ugh, no way. I'm stuffed!" BlackStar replied to Maka's offer.
Tsubaki looked at Maka and shook her head politley. "I'm fine, but thanks for the offer."
" I might as well fit in with the crowd." Soul said and shrugged.
Soul and BlackStar made their way to the living room to set up the gaming system. Maka went to the kitchen do wash the dishes, with Tsubaki at a tow. "It tasted great, Maka. Thanks." Tsubaki smiled and tilted her head.
"It was, but I only boiled the noodles. Everything else was pre-made." Maka said.
Tsubaki nudged Maka in the sidewith her elbow. " Don't be so modest! When your over modest, people din't give you enough credit. Don't end up like BlackStar. But don't be too shy. Be like...Soul. You know? He's not too selfish and he's not too modest. He's just right." Tsubaki smiled sheepishly when face was lighty painted with redness.
"It was good, wasn't it!" Maka said confidently.
