Luna sat in the Divination Tower. It had become her escape in the last year, one of the only places she felt completely at ease. "It's so hard being a seer sometimes," she remarked, seemingly out of nowhere. She knew her companion would understand, though. That statement had been bouncing around in her head for awhile.
Indeed, the residential Divination teacher, Firenze, nodded sagely. "I know, my dear."
"I try to use my future knowledge to help, but sometimes, there's just nothing that I can do."
"Trust me, my dear. I understand that better than anyone."
"Ron and Hermione are going to stop fighting eventually and get together, but the more I push them towards each other, the more Ron chases Lavender. I might have made the wait even longer because of my interference."
Firenze patted Luna's shoulder, offering silent comfort.
"Harry and Ginny are together now, but I know they're going to temporarily break up. If I tell Harry not to go down that path, who knows how that will affect his final battle against Voldemort. It might even cause his death for all I know. I know my best friend will be heartbroken by the breakup, but I can't say anything because at least I know that Harry will survive."
Firenze maintained his silence, knowing Luna needed to get everything off of her chest.
"Fred is going to die, leaving George alone. And just like I couldn't prevent my mother's death, I know I can't prevent Fred's. It needs to happen to maintain the balance."
"You know seers aren't allowed to stop deaths. You're doing the right thing."
"That won't mean much when I see George's grief-stricken face after it happens. Not to mention all of the pain Draco is going though. Just because I refuse to tell him what his blindly following his father's lead will cause."
"Won't Mr. Malfoy help save Harry and his group at the manor?" Firenze was sure that was what he saw.
"Yes."
"What do you think will happen if Mr. Malfoy isn't there to lie to his aunt?" He questioned.
Luna shuddered at the thought. "I don't even want to think about it."
Firenze nodded. "You see, you're doing what you have to do. Although a lot of pain will happen, in the end, the war will be over and most of your friends will survive it. Stop dwelling on things you can't change. I think you should go find Neville. He always knows how to make you feel better."
Luna wiped the tears from her cheeks and stood up. She bowed to the centaur. "Thank you for listening to me. There's no one else in the castle that understands the burden of a seer."
"Anytime, my dear. Anytime." He watched as Luna left the classroom. He knew she'd be okay. He foresaw it. Although her relationship with Neville wouldn't last, they would remain good friends and one day, she would be married with twin boys. All of the pain would be worth it then.
