The One Thing he Always Forgets

A/N: I love these two and I would love to see some more time to their little pairing but this is something that really struck me when watching the Djinn. It wasn't that Samar was cold to Liz but that she was in a similar position and would never run.

Also, please excuse my grammar and punctuation. I am working on it so if anyone wants to lend a hand I'd gladly take it.

To Aram, Samar Navabi was many things; not the least of which, a goddess. She was a woman unlike any other, a woman, the likes of which had only ever appeared in his dreams. From the moment he first saw her, he was speechless. Not that he had ever been eloquent when it came to women, but in the presence of Samar he lost any semblance of charisma. When she had started to show interest in him, it only served to make her more of a mystery.

Computers were his thing, and for most of his life, Aram had accepted that 'computer geek' wasn't exactly a turn on. Paired with his bold awkwardness, he'd often blown it with a woman before he'd even had a chance. This time, being on the task force with Samar every day seemed to work in his favour; and like a dysfunctional family the team fitted well together.

Which is why he'd been taken aback by the ferocity Agents Ressler and Navabi had been chasing Agent Keen. Of course it was their job and he was searching too but the one thing he wasn't sure of was what was going to happen if they managed to bring her in. Aram was 100% sure that Elizabeth was doing what she had to in order to clear her name and he was behind her all the way. He had watched as Reddington had waltzed into her life and left it in tatters. The woman he had met only a few years ago was gone and he hoped that one day she would be free to create her own life.

Seeing her in his apartment had lifted a weight that was heavier than he realised. She was all right, she was safe, well as safe as she could be when just about everyone, both good and bad were looking for her. All Aram wanted was for this mess to be over, for Liz to return to the task force and to go back to chasing down names on the Blacklist. He never thought he would miss those days as the norm, after being faced with some of the most elusive and dangerous criminals in the world, but he felt like they were making a difference.

Overhearing Samar's words to Agent Ressler came as a surprise to him, not because he felt she didn't believe Agent Keen but the bracing reminder that Samar was as dangerous as she was beautiful. She had come to them from Mossad and had done anything necessary to complete her various missions. Aram was sure that what he knew didn't even scratch the surface but it had faded into the background as he had been getting to know the Iranian beauty.

Samar and Ressler turned from the board and her eyes met Aram's as she made her way back to her desk. Sweet, affectionate Aram, she sighed as she thought about his work, often confined to the Post Office and sheltered from much of the atrocities she had witness and even played a part in. More than anything, she admired his unwavering support of Elizabeth and only hoped that when he eventually discovered some of the more sensitive areas of her past that she too would have earned his support.
