~*Silhouetted Desire*~
Nothing
ever begins.
Or so it seems. It is just a matter of life and death. Yes, life never is fair.
That is probably why it ends. Some may enjoy it, but in the end, all memories
would fade away like the mist when the time comes.
"Why does it have to be that way...?" Yoh
finds himself asking softly up at the midnight velvet of
the sky. It pains him to think about that. To him, there is no meaning in
fighting if you couldn't love and be loved. What is the point? Humanity exist because of love; love is life, life is love. There is
no denial in that statement.
"Yoh-kun...?"
That voice. That certain voice he never fails to recognize. That is the voice
which warms up his soul when he feels down, the voice which pleads him to live
when he encountered danger, the voice he fell in love with...
"Manta..." Yoh speaks gently, his eyes never leaving the the
sky that holds the glittering stars up above. "Aren't those stars
beautiful?"
Manta emerges from behind him, dropping onto the soft grass beside his best
friend and raises his own eyes up to take in the view of the thousand
diamond-like jewels. "Yeah. They are."
Yoh closes his eyes, savoring the moment of being
just with the person he loves. Nothing can make him change his mind about
Manta. Looks never mattered to him, for he believes that it is the heart that
counts. When he finally opens his eyes, he catches his best friend staring at
him with undisguised wonder, but the moment Yoh turns
to look at him, he averts his gaze to the ground. ::Why is it so hard just to say 'I love you'?:: Three simple
words, yet it brings a lot of meaning to the heart and soul.
The silence they share between them shatters like glass when Yoh says, "Manta," He pauses momentarily, fishing
for the right words. "You will always be by my side, won't you?" His
voice sounds strange, but it holds steady.
::Yes! For eternity, Yoh-kun!:: his mind answers, but his mouth refuses to repeat those
words. What came out was only, "Yes, Yoh-kun."
Their gazes lock for a fleeting moment and before either of them realize what was happening, Yoh
leans in slowly and touches his lips to Manta's. The latter lets out a slightly
startled gasp but did not flinch. Instead, he finds himself responding to the
gentle kiss. At that time, everything else seem to
fall apart. There are only the two of them, sharing each other's love and
devotion in that single kiss. A soft moan escapes Manta's lips as Yoh's tongue slides into his mouth, bringing the reality of
the moment closer between them. He unconsciously presses Manta to the ground,
drowning both of them in his kiss.
When Yoh finally breaks it, the perfection dissolves
and the bleakness of reality takes over its place. Instantly, Yoh pulls back and swallows, realizing his action. No, he
never wants to contemplate the consequences of their feelings for each other.
That will only break both their hearts and he does not want that to happen.
Without a word, he gets to his feet, walks away until there is a respectful
distance between them - unaware of Manta's nonplussed gaze on him - and looks
up at the sky again. It is the color of midnight and it
mirrors his feelings perfectly.
