'I will never forget the trust you placed in me, when you told me your secret. I feel the time we have spent together were the happiest I have had since coming back to school this year.
Yet you left me with so few memories that I have to close my eyes and dream of you. That is all I can do, because I fear I will never see you again. The days we were together made me happy, yet melancholy. I knew they had to end, that we would never be a true couple. My heart feels as if it being smothered, my chest burns with the need to see you again. To hold you in my embrace once more. Be careful in all you do. I do not want the last time I see you to be on the battlefield.
Know that I will be here for you no matter the circumstance. Do not lose faith in me.

Draco griped the note in his hand as he leaned on the fire place mantel, a storm of emotions rushed behind his eyes. The dark mark on his forearm burned with Voldemorts' summons.
Gritting his teeth together he threw the letter into the fire, watching as the beautifully written script was obliterated by the flames.
Turning away from the heat, he stepped out onto the balcony of his bedroom.
"I fear you have misplaced your trust my love. There is no way to escape the life I was born into." He whispered into the darkness of the night.
The burning of his arm became intense and Draco cursed. The time had arrived for him to meet his supposed destiny.
Going down to the manors drawing room he beheld a sight that nearly made him cry out. Knowing it would mean their death, he schooled his features into the look of indifference he was so known for.
There in the manor was none other than the golden trio. The other death eaters asked him then if he recognized any one of them.
Draco had no other choice but to lie even if it meant his death. He told them no and the group was taken to be interrogated.
As they were led away Draco's eyes met hers. They held no accusation, only fear.
Granger. I can only do this, to give Potter time to find a way out.
Then she was gone, lead into the darkness of the dungeons.
Hermione, I can't let them take you away from me.
It was then that Draco Malfoy realized he had found the way to be free.
The way to overcome the fear of the dark lord was through the love of a Gryffindor witch.
A/N: This is my first Harry Potter fan fiction. It isn't too long because I am not confident in my ability to write a longer, more detailed story. I hope this is adequate in the eyes of the fans of Draco/Hermione pairings. I have also never read any of the books, I know I'm horrid. Anyway please enjoy and let me know what you think!
