Author's Note: Just a drabble that popped into my head while I was cleaning.
"Spring cleaning," Julie groaned, "I hate it."
Kirsten glanced over at her brunette cohort, her blue eyes clouded over with confusion. "You hate the cleaning?" As for the blond, she enjoyed cleaning. It often calmed Kirsten and while this also confused her, she didn't mind. The cleaning needed done and being calm certainly wasn't a bad thing, so she didn't see the harm in doing both at one.
Julie shook her head. "No. I hate spring."
"But the flowers are in bloom, the water is warm, and the weather is unbelievable," Kirsten replied with a hint of shock in her voice.
"Exactly," Julie sighed. "I hate it all. The flowers make me sneeze, I hate warm ocean water, and it's starting to get hot again. Spring pisses me off."
Kirsten softly laughed at Julie's explanation. She couldn't help but feel like the brunette was a bit grumpy all of a sudden, and she wanted to know why. Although angry Julie was amusing, she was bringing Kirsten down with her and Newport did not need two pissed off Newpsies running loose.
"Something wrong, Julie?" Kirsten inquired. She gently put her glass of iced tea down onto the patio table with a small smile.
The brunette shrugged. "I think it's this damned sun," Julie responded, gesturing to her already burnt arm. The two had been sitting outside for an hour and Julie was starting to get sunburn. "It's too hot, KiKi."
Always ready to protest, Kirsten fanned herself with her hand. "It's only seventy, Julie." She refused to call the brunette "JuJu". Although Julie did not have any qualms about calling Kirsten the nickname that the blond had so much hatred for, Kirsten was a bit nicer than that.
"Fine, let's go inside," Kirsten finally said. She stood up from the plastic lawn chair, her skin beginning to sweat from the Californian sun. "Hurry up, I wouldn't want you to melt," Kirsten added in a teasing voice.
Julie happily gathered her glass and shoes, and then followed Kirsten into the house. They were greeted by a gust of ice cold air, and Julie made a mental note to thank whoever had turned the air conditioner on.
"See, this is what spring is about," Julie smiled. She loved the way the cold air felt upon her warm skin. She began rummaging around in the freezer, looking for something specific. "The cold houses, reruns on television and… aha! Fudge sicles!" Julie tossed one frozen chocolate popsicle to Kirsten, which the blond barely caught.
As the two women unwrapped their frozen treats and made their way to the living room. Kirsten smiled again. She obviously had a lot to teach Julie about spring.
