At Long Last
Dear Zelda,
Every time I receive the summons to be the Hero, I'm shocked. And everytime I see you, as children and adults, I'm speechless by how beautiful you are. You never seem surprised by our fate. But you always cry when we must part.
You cryied when you sent me to be a child again. You cried when you sent me to Ordon again. You cried when I sailed with Linebeck instead of your pirates. You cried when I left after Ezlo went away. You cried when I left to look for Navi.
But I always came back to you. I found my way back to you everytime I was gone. I missed you. Even before we meet, I miss you without knowing who you are and why I miss you. And every time I see you, I know that you are the one that I love my whole lives through.
And yet we can never be together. Each time we ask to be wed, we are denied with "not this lifetime." And we spend our lives wishing for the next.
Each lifetime you get more beautiful and wiser than the last. And each lifetime is more dangerous than the last. Yet we always can defeat Ganon.
Ands in this lifetime Ganon has finally been destroyed for good. Midna's curse has been broken, and the goddesses have finally smiled upon us. Could we be together now? After so many lifetimes of being denied happiness, can we finally be as we have always wished?
With all my love,
Link
Zelda put the letter down, tears running down her face, a smile upon her lips. Her heart was full of love and joy.
He was right. They could finally be together.
She was sitting in her study, alone with matter of state. But her mind was in Ordon with a certain Hero who had fought for her through so many lifetimes.
She was pulled out of her reverie when a knock came. A butler opened the door and said, "The Hero Link from Ordon is here, Your Majesty."
Zelda's heart sped up in anticipation. She nodded, and the butler ushered the man inside, and closed the door.
Link was just as handsome as he always had been. Perhaps even handsomer. He stood there smiling at her, making her melt. He was dressed in the green clothes that he had worn in all the lifetimes.
He strode to her and bowed deeply. She rose and curtsied to him, smiling. He smiled back at her, and held out his hand. She took it, and he kissed her gloved hand, making her blush.
"Zelda," he whispered, his eyes boring into hers. He drew her out from behind her desk until she stood before him. "Zelda, our trials are done."
"Yes," she breathed, looking up at him, losing herself in his azure eyes. He drew her closer, until their bodies touched. He wrapped his arms around her waist, and she clung to the front of his tunic. Their faces slowly came closer to each other.
"Zelda, will you marry me?" Link asked her in a barely audible whisper, his eyes full of hope, his breath blowing across her lips. She smiled happily, closed her eyes, tiliting her head up to his.
"Yes," she answered, and he gently touched her lips with his, and tenderly kissed her as longingly as she kissed him. The kiss that contained lifetimes of love and hope.
At long last, they would finally become one.
