I do not own Hetalia, it belongs to Hidekaz Himaruya.

This story is based off The Egg, by Andy Weir. It's a great read by the way!

Arthur looked around him. Nothing. Nothing but darkness, and a faint light coming from god knows where. As he tried to remember what had happened, his eyes widened in horror. He was dead.

Though the images, the images of that war, of that battle, of that fight, of that gun, of that sound, kept getting clearer, the look of shock on his face would not leave. It was stamped on, for what he thought was forever, until he noticed the faint light approaching him. He would've run away, but he had nowhere to run to. Instead, he sat, waiting, ready to accept whatever torture he was going to be subjected to...

A voice, powerful and strong, yet calming and homely, broke the silence, prompting the personification to look into its direction.

"Do you know why you're here? ", it asked.

However, still shaken by all that had happened, the country could only muster an "A-Am I dead? ".

Materialising in front of him, the voice responded. "Yes, you could say that. But do not worry, young one, it shall not last."

That was when he recognized Him, God. Tears escaped his eyes as he saw His beauty, but also for selfish reasons. He knew he would receive judgement for all the atrocities he had done. And so, he decided to speak.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for everything I've done..."

His tears would not stop. They rolled down his cheek and hit the marble floor one by one. His tears would not stop.

"My son, I forgive you. Not only because I know you are regretful of your actions, but because of something that even you do not know. You see, every nation you know, the ones you loathe, the ones you love, is a part of you, and likewise, you are a part of them. You are all interconnected, and you are all one. You have been every single one, the grandest, the poorest, and those who are dead."

"Y-You mean I'm America? And Canada? The Roman Empire?!"

"Yes, you are every nation that has ever lived."

"But, then who am I? "

"The Earth, but now you are England. In a short while, you will be Somalia."

"What!? Why?"

"Because you are not done living the life of every nation."

"So you're sending me back?"

"Yes, and when you will have completed your journey, you will be free."

"What will happen after I complete it?"

"Peace."

And with that, I saw a burst of white light, and I did not cry. I smiled, while my last moments as England were fleeing from my reach. I smiled, because I had lived a good life, and because I could keep going on my journey.
