It had been two weeks since he had asked her to lunch. That was the last time they had spoken. He intended to keep it that way. His attraction to her was the result of not getting any. Tonight, he smiled to himself that was going to change. Tonight he had a date with the hot new physical therapist from the 5th floor. Tonight was the night Mark Sloan was making a comeback.

Avoiding someone was not one of Lexie's strong suits. It was even harder when that person you were trying to avoid lived in the room across from you, and you happened to be in love with him. She was happy for George. Happy he was finally a resident, but unhappy he did not know how she felt. I mean was he really that dense? Of course he was. He was a man. Lexie wished she had a girlfriend she could talk to. She would call her sister but with Molly being a new mom she was probably too busy to hold a decent conversation, and Meredith was out. If Meredith had her way she and Lexie would never cross paths. To tell you the truth she was sick and tired of reaching out to Meredith anyway. Was it her fault Meredith had lived such a shitty life? Lexie knew she was being a bitch, but Meredith took being the eternal victim to the extreme. Lexie got out of bed and listened at the door for any sounds from George's room. She walked out after assessing that he had already left and made her way to the kitchen. It was time to start getting ready for work and another torturous day with her resident Cristina Yang. "Maybe I should transfer to derm"!, Lexie thought to herself.

Mark was flipping through a chart when he saw O'Malley cheesing in the Chief's face. He had heard that O'Malley had passed his intern's exam from Derek and hated the fact he had one less thing to needle the guy about. "I guess all that studying he did with Lexie finally paid off", Mark muttered to himself.

Lexie pulled up to SGH and moaned. She really did not want to deal with anyone today, especially Yang. What she wanted she could not have. George. "God, why did I have to fall for him". The thought occurred to her she needed a man's perspective. And she knew the perfect man to ask. Mark Sloan.

Mark was drinking coffee in the cafeteria when Lexie sat down across from him. She looked frazzled and insecure. Still adorable though. "What is it Grey"?

"I know you think I'm pathetic, but I desperately need your help".

"Is it a case"?

"No. It's George.

Mark grimaced. "What about him Grey"?

"I need him to know how I feel. How should I go about it"?

"Why is O'Malley so damn important to you? You are a gorgeous, smart woman Grey. You are way too good for O'Malley. Set your sights higher".

Lexie was getting annoyed, but Mark did not care. She needed a dose of reality. She needed a man to help her get over George. She needed him, but alas that would never happen. The two of them would not work. She was too green for him. Beautiful, but green.

"So who should I pursue Dr. Sloan"?

"Anyone other than O'Malley. The guy has too much baggage. He's newly divorced, fresh off an affair with Izzie Stevens, and he just became a resident. Cut your losses". With that Mark got up and walked away from the table.

Lexie thought about what Sloan had suggested and decided that maybe he was right. George did have a lot of baggage and in all honesty was not ready for the type of relationship she desired. She looked up and saw her sister Meredith entering the cafeteria with her soulmate Derek Shepherd. Looking at them made her realize that she deserved the very best and waiting around for a guy to think of her as more than just a friend would not cut it either. Lexie smiled as a plan formed in her mind.
