-Names-
Names hurt. Not the names that tell you who you are, but the insults. The names that cut deep and leave gaping wounds.
Those wounds gradually heal over, until the scab is ripped off and you hurt all over again. It stings, though you try not to show it.
But some can see through you.
The emotionless one.
The object of your affection.
And the perverted one, who drives you insane with that merrily twinkling eye of his that tells you he's always laughing inside.
You can't say that no one understands, because the dolphin and stone also know the pain. The pain of being alone. The pain of having no family.
But there are a few ways in which you differ from them.
They knew parents. You never did.
They are respected. You will be forever shunned.
That dream of becoming Hokage?
That's just a bunch of bull that your naïve little mind dreamt up. No one would willingly let you take over Konoha. Face it.
Even that brat, Konohamaru, would do better, and he's more ignorant than you.
Let me tell you, kid. This is a lesson that everyone learns the hard way: no matter how much physical pain you're in, it'll eventually go away.
But the sting of insults? That lasts forever; it never goes away: it just momentarily retreats then comes back full force when you're least expecting it.
I bet you've heard this saying before: "Each insult is a wound that won't heal up after the war is done."
Sound familiar? Well, guess what? That person was right.
You may heal fast physically, but you ain't never gonna heal with all the wounds you got on you, kid.
