Late Night D&M's

Scarlett/Dave, Scarlett/Rodney, Dave/Sky.

I wrote this a while ago and decided to post it. I could've easily made this a solely Sky/Dave fic, but instead I made it a little more interesting with multiple ships. I also expanded Scarlett's emotional side instead of just her logical side. Sorry if she seems a little OOC, I wrote this after only seeing the first four episodes (AKA she's not secretly evil).

Scarlett watched the campfire flames dance in the night air. Tiny little sparks flew up into the air until their light dimmed and disappeared into the darkness.

It was there first night at Pahkitew Island, and everyone decided to start a bonfire to celebrate. Now, at 11:30pm, it seemed as if the others weren't really night owls because most were already in bed. Dave and Sky were sitting next to her on the log, and she could see Rodney and Topher kicking a soccer ball around in a clearing nearby.

'I'm so tired - these challenges really take the energy out of me,' Sky yawned.

'I know, and it's only the first day, I think Chris is trying to torture us,' Scarlett replied.

'You think? I'm certain he'd try to kill us if it wasn't for the lawsuits', Dave joked.

'What do you think our challenge will be tomorrow?' Sky asked.

'I have no idea,' he paused for a moment, looking at Sky, 'has anyone ever told you how beautiful your eyes are?'

Sky kept her eyes on the ground, 'It's getting really late, I'm going to go to bed. Goodnight!' She jumped up quickly and left as the other two said their goodbyes to her.

Dave frowned, he thought it had been going so well, and now he'd scared her away?

'Sorry to break the news to you, but I don't think she returns your feelings,' Scarlett told him.

'How'd you know I like her?'

'I guess I'm just observant, but you're pretty obvious.'

'I don't understand though, shouldn't she be happy someone likes her? Or at least flattered? I would kill for someone to like me.'

'Same...'

'Awww...', Dave replied, as he let his head rest upon her shoulder for a second.

After a short moment of silence, Dave asked, 'How do you know if a girl likes you?'

'I'm not really the person to ask, I've never been in a relationship before,'

'Me neither...'

'Is it really that hard for guys to tell who a girl likes? Can you tell who I like?'

'Uh... Max?'

'Ew... Gross!' Scarlett grimaced, before turning her head to the other guys playing soccer. She watched the muscles in Rodney's broad shoulders as he caught the ball that Topher had kicked.

Dave traced her line of vision, 'Topher?'

'No, he's too egocentric'

'Rodney?', Dave grinned.

Scarlett blushed, 'Yeah, I had a little crush on him, but he's a bit confusing, I don't think he likes me back.'

Scarlett felt her back getting cold, as her face was borderline too hot. That was the issue with campfires: they don't warm you evenly. She watched the fire burning slower than before, the light a little dimmer, making the darkness around them more noticeable.

'I don't think Rodney's the brightest bulb out there either, you could get a guy much better than him.'

'Do you really think so?'

'Definitely! I think you'll get a really mature guy, you deserve someone amazing.'

'Thanks,' she smiled.

Scarlett didn't have much experience with guys, she just wanted someone that she could have an intelligent conversation with. A guy like that was appearing to be pretty hard to find, especially on the island. All the guys here couldn't understand half the things she says.

Well, except one, I guess.

Scarlett turned to the person sitting right next to her, and it occurred to her that this was the best conversation she'd ever had with a guy her age.
