AN: Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't written a story in ages- I've been really busy. I'll make it up to you now. This story is based on the song 'My Last Breath' by Evanescence, and is about Ron and Hermione in the Battle of Hogwarts, 1998. Hope everyone likes it. This switches POVs from Ron and Hermione. Anyway, I hope you guys like it and don't forget to review please!

Hermione's POV:

Harry was dead- the war was lost. They had always known Voldemort might have won, but they were working on the theory that Harry would win and finally beat the same Dark Lord who had ruined many lives.

Hold onto me love, you know I can't stay long.

Hermione was thinking of Ron. She hadn't seen him since Harry's death at the hands of the evil Voldemort. She expected that Ron was grieving in his own way.

All I wanted to say was 'I love you' and I'm not afraid.

Hermione was lying to herself. She was scared. Her parents didn't know she was and her best friend was dead. But she still loved Ron. Nothing would change that.

Can you hear me? Can you feel me in your arms?

Ron's POV:

Ron was calling for Hermione. He longed to see her, to hold her in his arms and know she was safe and alive. Fred's death had left a gaping hole in his heart. Ron knew George had been feeling worse than him. But it didn't matter now. Three of his brothers, Bill, Percy and Fred were dead. His mother and sister had long been killed by Bellatrix at the beginning of the Battle of Hogwarts. Ron and his dad had gotten their revenge. Now his family was just him, Arthur, Charlie and George.

Holding my last breath, safe inside myself.

Are all my thoughts of you?

Sweet raptured light, it ends here tonight.

Hermione's POV:

Until the battle had come about, Hermione had never realised just how much she really missed Hogwarts. It wasn't just her friends and lessons she found herself missing. It was also little things. She missed Hogwarts at Christmastime, with the feasts and presents.

I miss the winter, a world of fragile things.

Look for me in the white forest hiding in a hollow tree.

I know you hear me.

I can taste it in your tears.

Ron's POV:

I could hear a voice. Hermione. I knewit was her. I would recognize her voice anywhere. I ran past my dad and Charlie. Avoiding their questions, I raced as fast as my tired legs would take me. Then I saw her in the forest. I was thinking of Hermione. Only Hermione.

Hermione's POV:

I heard footsteps. Thinking it was Death Eaters, I raised my wand ready to attack. Ron. It was Ron. Had he known that I had been thinking of him? In response to my silent question, Ron's Patronus glided in front of me.

Holding my last breath, safe inside myself.

Are all my thoughts of you?

Sweet raptured light, it ends here tonight.

Ron's POV:

He saw Hermione. He missed her so much. But even knowing Hermione was there for him, even running into her arms and holding her wasn't enough for Ron. He needed to know this was real. Because he knew that nothing could take away the pain of losing over half of his family.

Close your eyes and disappear. You pray your dreams will leave you here. But still you wake and know the truth, no one's there. Say goodnight, don't be afraid. Calling me, calling me as you fade to black.

Narrator's POV:

And as Ron and Hermione saw each other, they leapt into each other's arms, they finally realised how much they had really missed each other.

Holding my last breath, safe inside myself.

Are all my thoughts of you?

Sweet raptured light, it ends here tonight.
