This story begins when the Strawhats only recently have parted from Thriller Bark.
Chapter 1.
It's A New Morning
A noise is heard coming from down on deck when a door is opened and closed. A while after there was a faint sound of a clicking.
A smile appears on the woman's face up in the Crow's nest. She didn't want to admit that she was somewhat tired for keeping night watch yet again, but her stomach she didn't deny. The fact that she soon was able to enjoy another outstanding breakfast cheered her up.
She let a small yawn escape her mouth as she ran through her raven coloured hair with her hand.
The night sure had been a peaceful one. Thankfully, the archaeologist had picked up a few new interesting books at Thriller Bark that she had occupied herself with.
Also, the coffee had helped her in two ways this night. First, of course, the caffeine had made her alert, but she also had entertained herself with a bit of practising. She had imagined the kitchen and bloomed limbs there to make the beverage without leaving the Crow's nest. It took a lot of concentration to pull it off, and she had to be careful not to burn her hands. When she had at last been successful in making a cup for herself, she had passed it on with her blooming hands all the way up to where she was sitting. She had even troubled herself to get another lump of sugar as the coffee had been a little too bitter for her liking.
Thinking about it only made her feel peckish about another cup of the delicious black beverage and with that, Robin started to make her way down the ladder.
The cook on the ship was laying the table while wearing a rather satisfied facial expression. He didn't quite understand the reason for it, but today he was in a particularly good mood.
He put the last dishes on the table and stood back to look over his work.
"Yes, this will definitely do," he mumbled to himself, smirked and chewed a little on his unlit cigarette.
He knew the food supply was already running a bit short, but he felt that it was his duty as the cook to please the crew's stomachs to the fullest, even if it meant that his dear Nami-san would get angry with him. Heck, if this much wouldn't satisfy his captain then be that as it may, it was plenty enough in his opinion.
The door to the kitchen opened and a tall woman entered the room.
"It looks delicious, Kokku-san."
Sanji's eyes immediately formed pink hearts while he put his hands to the side of his head and moved his hips back and forward, "Do you really think so, Robin-chwaaan?"
Robin chuckled lightly. "Good morning," she said and smiled.
"Oh, Robin-chan, you are too gracious! Good morning!" he shouted happily, flinging his hands into the air, "I was just about to go wake the others when you showed up and blessed me with your beauty! Is there anything I can do for you?"
"There is," she replied and turned to leave the room again, "You can make me a cup of coffee while I go wake the others."
"Hai, Robin-chwan!"
Robin was about to knock on the navigator's door when it suddenly opened before her. "Oh, Kōkaishi-san, you're awake," she remarked.
"Good morning, Robin!" Nami said and lifted her arms up high to stretch her back. She grinned and added, "I couldn't sleep any more knowing that we're going to arrive at a new island today."
"Exciting, isn't it?"
"It's been such along time since I drew maps. Hopefully, we can finally relax a little bit." The red-haired girl started to make her way towards the kitchen, but then she turned around to ask her nakama, "Are you waking the others?"
Robin nodded and smiled before she went on to the men's bedroom. She didn't care to knock knowing that hardly anyone would hear it or even care, anyway. Instead, she simply opened the door and went for the closest nakama.
"Seni-san, wake up," she said and shook the little reindeer softly. She then went to wake up the others in the same manner.
Chopper woke up almost immediately, but there was a long row of moans as Luffy, Usopp, Franky and Brook sat up in their beds and then got up, walking to the door while yawning and rubbing their eyes.
When the captain felt a faint smell of food he suddenly became totally alert. "Food!" he cried out and started to run towards the kitchen, his voice becoming more and more distant to the others as he repeatedly shouted, "Meat, meat, meat..!"
Usopp, Franky and Brook only continued with their sleepy gestures and with a shuffling gait they left the room.
A certain green haired swordsman had only turned around in his bed while uttering a sleepy groan and had then started snoring again.
"Kenshi-san..." Robin started, but a gentle pull at her pants from the little reindeer stopped her from saying any more.
"I think Zoro still needs to rest more," he whispered to her anxiously. He continued, "He has a very long way yet to be fully recovered."
"I understand," Robin whispered back at him and smiled, "We'll just save some food for him to eat later, then."
Chopper smiled back, glad that someone on this ship understood his concerns. Together they left the room.
As soon as the two entered the kitchen a cup of reeking hot coffee was held up before the woman.
"Robin-chwan, here is your cup of coffee! I made it with all my greatest effort!"
"Thank you."
The woman took the cup and together the three of them went to take a seat at the dinner table. Sanji was about to start the breakfast, but stopped when he realised that someone was missing. "Oi, where's Marimo-kun?" he asked.
"Seni-san thought he could rest for a bit longer," Robin replied and took a zip of the coffee.
"Ne, ne, Banji! Leb's sbart be breakbast albeady!" mumbled a drooling captain, "We'bb wust sabe bome bhor im, bigbt?"
"Right," Sanji said calmly and then rose to go and kick his captain hard over the head. A vein popped in his head and he yelled, "Don't give me that when you already got your whole mouth full!"
He kept pressing Luffy's mispleased face to the ground with his foot while repeatedly uttering, "Baka, baka... Baka!"
Some time after breakfast Usopp sat on the edge of the Sunny, hoping to catch something interesting with the fishing rod he held in his hands. It had been quiet for some while now but he didn't feel like giving up just yet. In fact, he felt that the silence was quite refreshing so he did enjoy it, still.
However, he knew as soon as he heard his captain yelling his name that the peace and quiet would abruptly come to an end. The sniper barely had time to turn around, and even less time to react properly before his captain had shoot himself from the other side of the ship to his direction. "Wha, wa, wai, wait! Wait a minute, Luff-!" he stuttered, but didn't have time to finish the sentence either before the person in question crashed into him and they were both about to fall over board.
"Why~!" Usopp yelled out of slight panic and irritation, while the captain just laughed. Suddenly two rough hands grabbed them both by the clothes and they were falling no longer.
"Luffy, stop being so damn reckless," a grumpy voice was heard as they were thrown aboard again.
"Haha, that scared me!" said Luffy happily.
"Bastard, watch where you're landing!" said the sniper angrily and got up to shove his fist into his captain's face.
"Ah, Zoro! You're up!" said Luffy, completely unaffected by the sniper's action.
"Yeah, why didn't anyone wake me?" wondered the swordsman, a hint of irritation in his voice. He scratched his neck, yawned and added, "Thanks to that, I missed breakfast."
"We left you some," a voice was heard behind them as well as the clicking sound of a lighter, "but you better cut it out with that sullen tone of yours or you won't get any..." The man exhaled the smoke and added, "Shitty marimo."
"Shove it, ero-kokku!" the swordsman replied as he started to make his way to the kitchen.
"What was that, you ungrateful bastard?" Sanji stepped in front of him and said cockily, "Don't think I'll let you have any now!"
"Oh, you are," Zoro said, grimacing, as he went around the cook.
"You want to start something, huh?" said Sanji and started to swing his leg at the green haired man.
The swordsman took up two of his sheeted swords and started to swing them around as well, "Fine! You curly eyebro-"
"Shut up!" interrupted the navigator and stepped in to punch them both to the ground, "Why do you always do that!? Geez!"
There was a small chuckle, "Impressive, Kōkaishi-san."
"Ah, Robin. Have you gathered everyone?"
"Yes, they are on their way here."
"What are you going to tell us, Nami?" wondered the captain and eagerly began to jump up and down, "Are we arriving at Meat Island soon?"
As Franky, Brook and Chopper also joined the commotion Nami went to stand before the group. "Listen up!" she said, "It is as you say, Luffy. We're arriving at a new Island in approximately one hour."
"Meat! Meat, meat..!"
"No!" A vein popped out of the navigator's forehead as she punched her captain. "The island is named Liwatura," she paused to sigh and collect herself, "It is known to be lively and pirate friendly. It's our only stop before we can go to the New World, so if possible I thought we could relax a little while we're there and try to enjoy ourselves."
"Oh, like a vacation?" asked Franky, lifted his sunglasses and started to grin.
"Yeah, sort of."
The rest of the crew began to cheer, some louder than others.
"SUPER!"
"How nice! Yo-ho-ho!"
"Okay, listen now. Everybody gets to do what they want eventually, but first," Nami pointed a finger up, "there are some chores we need to take care of."
Everybody – spare Robin, Zoro and Sanji – who had jumped around cheering suddenly stopped and started to groan instead.
"Don't worry, there isn't much," she reassured them and then turned to the cook, "We need more food, right?"
"Hai, Nami-san! I was worried that you would scold me because I used so much food for breakfast." Sanji made an innocent face and pouted, "But it's really hard feeding these bastards to the fullest every day!" He quickly glared at the boys in the crew.
She waved him off and said, "No need to worry, Sanji-kun. We're arriving today, after all." She turned to the others again, "I will distribute the chores when we arrive. Now you all have time to prepare yourselves."
As the group started to scatter she yelled out, "Luffy, Zoro, wear something different for once in a while!"
"Huh, why?" Zoro grunted.
"Come on, you're always wearing the same thing. Mix it up a little!" As she started to head to her own quarters she more or less jestingly – Zoro couldn't be sure – added, "Or else I'll rise your debts~!"
The swordsman wasn't sure if he even had a debt to pay any more. He cursed under his breath as he together with his captain made his way down to the men's bedroom again.
Luffy quickly changed into a pair of black shorts and a dark green vest and headed back up again.
"...devilish woman..." muttered Zoro as he took the white shirt of and threw it at his hammock.
The bandages over his chest and stomach loosened from this action and fell to the ground. Zoro stopped to look at them for a while. Even though it stung all over his body just from the air from the salty seawater, he snorted and left them there, thinking that they only disturbed him anyway.
Suddenly, an arm bloomed out from the floor and picked up the bandages. Three arms bloomed out from Zoro's leg and passed the bandages up. He stiffened from this action. While feeling rather freaked out, but not letting it show in his stern expression, he stared at the hands. Finally only one on his hip remained, holding the bandages up in front of him.
"Seni-san will be angry with you," a smooth voice was heard from behind.
He turned to look at the raven haired archaeologist standing at the doorway.
"They're just in my way..." the swordsman answered and awkwardly took the bandages from the arm at his hip which disappeared shortly after.
"But they help you recover, Kenshi-san," Robin argued. She couldn't help but to inspect the gruesome wounds on his body. They almost made her own body ache and she couldn't help but shiver. She could tell just from a glance that they were incredibly severe and she thought that it was indeed a mystery how the man was even alive, let alone up and walking.
Obviously uncomfortable with her gazing at him, the swordsman turned away to throw also the bandages on to his hammock.
Robin didn't know whether to laugh because she could still see his back, or to writhe yet again from imaginary ache because the wounds were just as gruesome there.
"What did you want?" wondered the man in a rather awkward tone and looked back at her.
"I came to remind you that there's still some breakfast over for you," she replied with a faint smile.
"Oh, right... thanks?" he answered, still as awkwardly. He had absolutely forgotten about breakfast.
The woman remained still and gave him a rather concerned look.
"...What?" He turned away yet again and walked to the wardrobe to grab a grey tank top and put it on hastily.
"Ah... nothing." She turned around to leave but stopped in the doorway, looked back and added, "You should hurry and eat, we're arriving soon."
As she left the room, Zoro once more looked at the bandages and snorted at them.
I've finally gotten around to start editing all chapters. I don't know, they just don't feel up to date with my current writing skills, and it feels weird to read through them now. At least I think this is an improvement.
Also, the two first chapters were so short, and they didn't really feel like they needed be separated, so I put them together here!
