Picking Up The Pieces (of my heart)

Maria felt a surge of emotions as Brody's gentle kiss lingered.
She was well aware of the fact that he liked her and that she and Michael were having
relationship problems. Just the same a guilty feeling came over her.
Michael: Liz said you weren't feeling well. So...is kissing Brody going to make you feel better?
Maria: Michael...I...He kissed me! I pulled away! Michael, you know I love you! I'd never do
anything to hurt you.
Michael: Yeah, well uh... we need a break Maria. I think we should see other people!
As he walks out of her life she feels her heart being broken in half. She doesn't know how to deal
with her emotions.
Maria played that conversation over and over in her mind.
She discussed the situation with Tess and Liz.
*********3 Weeks Later********
Tess: Maria?? I hate to be the bearer of bad news but...
you know Tifani Malone?
Maria: The way-too-perky,cheerleader?
Tess: That would be her.
Maria: What about her?
Tess: She's Michael's new girlfriend.
Maria: I didn't think she was his type. Anyway, weren't we going to the mall?
Liz: Yes, and we still are! If you're up to it.
Maria: Hey! Who needs Michael Guerin?
As they entered Roswell Plaza...Maria spotted her favorite store. Joe's.
Unfortunately, it was Michael's favorite store too. They walked around the Department store and
ran into Guess Who? Michael and Tifani.
Michael: Hi!
Maria: Hello!
Michael: Tifani, you know Maria DeLucca, Liz Parker, and Tess Campbell.
Maria noticed that his eyes were glued on her.
Maria: We...uh...we were just leaving.
Liz: Yep! Lunchtime.
Tess: Food!!!!
Maria: So... See ya!
Michael: Yeah!
The agony Maria felt was exceedingly great at that time.
She trembled for a few minutes and then collapsed in tears of anger and sadness.
The pain Maria felt was so immense. Liz and Tess didn't know how to stop her besides sit there
and let her cry. She had to express her emotions.
But Michael, He took Maria in his arms and kissed her tenderly. Re-awakening the intense
feelings they'd been harboring for three long weeks.
As soon as Maria realized Michael was there her sobs reduced to whimpers.
He kissed her nose and told her he loved her. He then, after she promised she'd never hurt him
again, knelt down on one knee and proposed.
Stuggling for composure, Maria nodded and they pondered what their future together would
bring.
