Her mug of coffee was held tightly in her hands as her eyes stared resolutely ahead, and Bon couldn't help but step closer.
"Izumo, it will be okay." Bon carefully wrapped his arms around her waist, slowly letting them gently loop around her as he didn't want to startle her or leave her pushing him far away.
She glanced back at him, but for a moment no words came out of her throat; she was quiet for another moment.
Izumo curled up in his arms slowly though she held her coffee cup less tightly, but definitely not enough to drop it.
"It will be okay." Bon repeated, unsure of what else to say, unsure of whether it would really be okay for a moment.
"Are you sure?" Her eyes were clouded with distance and tears though they didn't fall, and she pressed closer to Bon, scooting further into his embrace as she turned her eyes upward to meet his.
"Yeah, I'm sure they'll be fine." Bon gingerly reached down to rub his wife's stomach, knowing that she'll be fine whenever her sister became elated again.
"You sure?" Her breath came out slowly and tiredly as she looked towards her husband, knowing that this was the third or fourth time that Tsukumo had tried to have a kid and was the furthest that she'd came in the pregnancy, about three or four months.
"Yeah, they'll try it again just a different way." Bon took a deep breath, easily seeing what Izumo saw littered across their house, pictures of their happy children, family pictures, and toys and other games even little trinkets scattered across their home; it made Izumo feel guilty that she and Bon were able to easily have a family and yet Tsukumo's attempts fell apart at the seams.
Bon held her closer, knowing that she shouldn't feel guilty about the difficulty of her sister at having children; it wasn't her fault.
Izumo tried to smile, but it came out broken and only as a half smile, "It's just, what if it never happens?" Izumo's tears spilled out, and Bon reached out to comfort her with soft fingers leaving small trails on her skin.
"It will. I'm praying for them too, you know, and I can't imagine that some miracle won't happen some time soon." Bon held her closer, and she trusted the priest, the exorcist, that she'd married.
"I hope so." Izumo relaxed into his arms, and it was just enough for right now to calm her down as her unsipped, cold coffee rested in her arms until she'd heard the eventual news of Tsukumo being pregnant again and hopefully having her kid this time.
Bon smiled at her, pressing his lips softly against her throat in a comforting gesture and holding her tighter in his embrace for support and not reacting in any way when she sipped her once hot coffee and grimaced.
It was just another day, and yet it wasn't unlike any day that they had managed to get through together; Bon knew that they'd make it on to another day and that something will happen that should make Tsukumo happy once again and then spread the joy over into his wife's heart.
He massaged her back and offered to warm her coffee up before she told him like she always did on these tough days that she didn't really want it warmed up, that she was done with coffee for the day.
Bon smiled at the slight sparkle returning to his wife's eyes and at the way she relaxed into him, choosing to forget her sadness, her sorrow, before it would come back on some other day.
