"Dude, we have a major problem."
"You and I both." Stork had become accustomed to ignoring Finn, or at least replying something sarcastic his way. The Merb was ducked under one of the control panels of the ship, rewiring two differently colored strands. Finn sat down on the couch, turning a colorful cube every which way.
"I can't figure this thing out!" the sharpshooter complained. "It's too complicated. The colors just...won't...aha!" Grinning, he looked proudly at two of the squares of the Rubix cube combined. "Now just to...ah, man!" As soon as he tried to match another pair, the first two matched colors came apart.
"I don't have time for your silly puzzles," Stork griped. "I am trying to rewire the Condor so we don't fall out of the sky and plunge into the Wastelands during our next Talon attack." He glanced over his shoulder with that flexible neck of his. "Unless of course...you want that." Finn seemed to be letting his comment blow over, as he usually did with subjects particularly uninteresting. He kept twisting away at the Rubix cube. Stork sighed. Ever since getting him a tamer version of the puzzle he had melted, Finn had been transfixed with the thing. It was because of him that during their recent battle with the Cyclonians, the Condor had to be rewired in the first place.
"Would you stop messing with that thing...?"
"I've almost got it! Just a little more!"
"You're no better off than when you first started." Stork almost smirked. If he hadn't been in such a bad mood, this might have been funny.
"I am too! See? These two are connec - what the - oh, come on! I had it before!" Stork shook his head at the sharpshooter's efforts and went back to the task of rewiring his beloved ship. Miraculously, Finn managed to stay quiet for the most part, other than a grunt of frustration here or there. A few minutes passed and Stork managed to rewire the ship without any lingering damage. Smiling, he closed the panel and looked at Finn. The sharpshooter had the Rubix cube in between his two hands, and with a flourish spun it around. It was completely finished!
"Done!" He flashed a smug grin, and Stork crossed his arms, skeptical at first, before narrowing his eyes.
"You didn't..." He walked over, taking the Rubix cube and flipping it around to see.
"I totally did, dude! Look! The colors are all there!" Stork continued rolling the Rubix cube in his hands, until suddenly, his slightly damp palms came back with a little blue residue. Bewildered, the Merb looked down and realized that the color was coming off one of the stickers of the Rubix cube, and it wasn't in fact blue, but yellow. The Merb looked at Finn almost disapprovingly, only to get a sheepish grin in return. Stork sighed.
"You didn't..." he repeated. "I mean, really. You didn't."
