"When I said all of you, that meant you as well." Her green eyes sparkled her lips in an endless, bright smile. At first, is mind analyzed every possibility of a trick. After all, she was more treacherous and conniving than she let on, but as she extended her hand, he felt himself unable to resist it. He changed from an owl to a man in a glittering instant and, for some unknown reason, felt uncharacteristically shy and unsure. She studied him closely, those eyes burning holes through him it seemed.

"Well, you could have fooled me, Precious." Thankfully, his voice gave off his normal strong, sarcastic demeanor although he felt far from it. She bit her lip, looking quite adorably ashamed and seemed to argue with herself in her head for a moment.

"I-" She stopped, shook her head, and tried again. "I… had to save Toby."

He snorted and then smirked at the irritated flash that passed through her emerald eyes.

"Toby was never in any danger." She blinked, confusion evident in her disbelieving frown. He raised his eyebrow, not sure why this torture was thrilling him so much.

"What do you mean?" He began to pace around her childish room, picking up a porcelain doll that bore a striking resemblance to her, examining it for half a second before throwing it back down in disinterest.

"What I mean, Sarah, is you were the intended target all along. I'd have sent Toby home either way. You had beaten my Labyrinth as soon as you entered my castle."

Of course she hadn't understood, hadn't even listened to the words he sang to her, didn't understand anything of his feelings.

"But… why didn't you say so?"

"I was hoping, Sarah. A foolish thing to do." He avoided looking at her at all costs, so he quickly conjured up a small crystal, making it dance between his fingers.

"Hoping for what?" He sighed; she just wouldn't stop. He knew he would never get it out if he tried to explain through words, so he silently blew the crystal over to her. She became enveloped in his fantasy, one that involved her in a beautiful wedding dress and sitting beside him as a respected and loved Goblin Queen. He laughed sharply as he heard her gasp.

"Now you see."

What happened next is still a mystery to him even to this day. His head snapped toward her as she began to laugh. Upon seeing his dumbfounded expression, she only laughed harder, tears streaming from her eyes. When she finally gained control of herself again she was gasping as she said,

"Why didn't… you show me that… at the very start?"

He blinked, opened his mouth, closed it and blinked again. This set her off into laughter once more, but this time she barreled towards him, throwing her arms around him.

"Yes, Jareth, yes." She managed to whisper and his arms encircled her, though he was still somewhat in a daze.

"Precious… you will never cease to amaze me." She laughed and stretched, placing a kiss to his cheek gently, sending his heart pounding.

"I'm counting on it."
