Let me know what you think!
Day three: Transformation
Lucy realized on day that half her nails were broken. This one broke yesterday when capturing a bandit. Her thumb-nail was broken from a flying chair that had hit her during one of the guild's famous fights. And how could she forget the one that had been broken when she shoved Natsu out of her bed the other day?
She also realized that she had a scar on her arm from the time a flying piece of debris from a fight had hit her. There was one on her upper thigh from one of the battles on Tenrou Island, and another on her back from when she went flying during the fight with the dragons after the Grand Magic Games.
It was common for her to sleep under the open stars on the hard forest floor when they were on jobs. It was common to jump in muddy puddles and get dirty. It was common to run, as fast as she could, being dragged by her teammate, with her head thrown back, laughing.
It was common to touch people openly. She couldn't count the amount of times she was hugged, groped, touched, cuddled… And she cherished every touch.
Her clothes could be ruined, she could be cut, she could get dirty, as long as everyone got home safely.
Gone were the days where every ounce of effort was spent on her appearance. Gone were the days where her main priority was impressing other people. Gone were the days where she feared for her future because she wasn't in control of it.
She ran her own life now. She made her own choices. If she wanted to, she could run and laugh openly, she could tumble in the grass, she could fight for those she loved.
She could be wild, she could be free. She could be who she truly wanted to be.
Gone were the days where her father chose who she would spend the rest of her life with.
She was free to love, free to choose. She could be with the one she loved.
She could be with the one who transformed her.
Natsu was the one who took her by the hand, told her she was a person, and encouraged her to follow her dreams. He told her to fight for herself, to fight for her friends, her Nakama.
He had changed her, shaped her.
He dared her to take a chance on life, to live every moment like it was their last. There would be no regrets, no lost moments. They would live in the now, they would learn from the past, they would protect the future.
She had learned that she could never go back to the past; she could never be caged again, forced to follow a life set for her by someone else.
She had learned to seize the present, to do what she thought was right. She was free to make her own choices.
She had learned to protect the future, the future that she would get to choose for herself; it was her life.
It was their future.
He dared her to love, he dared her to cry. He dared her to run, he dared her to try.
He dared her to allow herself to fall, and lay on the ground. He dared her to feel, he dared her to be here, in the present now.
And so she did.
