The world had changed since the meteor fell, granting powers to many who had formerly had none. Thor Odinson had become president of the United States of America and Reed Richards, formerly Mister Fantastic of the Fantastic Four, was vice president. S.H.I.E.L.D. had been put in charge of keeping track of registered super humans and tracking down the unregistered ones.
The Avengers had become a super human police force, working along with the X-Men to ensure mutants were treated as fairly as all other super humans. Charles Xavier had opened his school to any young super person, mutant or otherwise. Stark Industries had begun mass-producing armors for S.H.I.E.L.D. and the government, as well as scaled down versions for the non-powered consumer.
