A/N: Chapter 161 spoilers ahead! Thank you to hawk-in-a-tree/SilverLunaMoon/FabHawk for the beta. Please note that I spell Sir Knighteye differently than current translations for pun value; FabHawk helped me figure it out and I think it may have been what Horokoshi was going for.

Twisted Up

Izuku's eyes were too blurred with tears to make out where Mirio was standing, but he could hear his gasping sobs just fine. The sound tightened his throat and made him feel like something heavy was sitting inside his stomach. He wiped roughly at his cheeks, but the tears kept coming.

This was his fault.

Ever since Izuku received One for All, people kept assuming that he didn't think. They were wrong. He'd spent fourteen years of his life with no Quirk and nothing to defend himself with except strategy.

Sir Knighteye had praised him for changing fate with some of his last words. He'd reasoned that the power of everyone wishing for a single future had changed the future he'd seen. Izuku had a different theory.

He'd seen the parallels a long time ago. He'd looked at Sir Knighteye and Lemillion and seen a reflection of himself and All Might. And then he'd heard Sir Knighteye's prediction, and promised to twist fate along with All Might.

All Might was still alive and Quirkless Deku had inherited his power.

And now the other intended successor for One for All had lost his Quirk and was crying over his dead mentor.

A/N: This is less a serious theory about Horokoshi's plans and more straight-out angst writing. Also, for anyone waiting on Steeplechase, I hope to update on Tuesday.

Please leave a review if you're inclined, and try not to hate me too much for this one.
