CARYL ON!

It's hard to believe that I am the standing here again. So many of them I have seen go now. Only two of us remain here in this now lonely place. When will our time come to make our journey?

Looking at his cross, I still have trouble believing he's gone from our lives. He was our rock, our shoulder to cry on, our leader, our friend and most importantly the main part of our family. He has gone to join the others now. He saw so much in his lifetime, helped so many people, fought so hard to keep us all together.

He was more like the brother I never got to have. He was always there with a kind word of encouragement, or a helping hand. He knew what I was thinking, even when I didn't, and vice versa. I'm gonna miss our chats, the way we worked together when we were out on runs, even our fights.

I place my hand on Daryl's shoulder to give him strength. He was the one who found Rick in his bunk, dead from the flu that had taken so many. They were as close as anyone could be, almost true brothers.

"I still can't believe he is gone," my husband says, his voice raspy and soft.

"I know…neither can I. First Hershel, Carl, then Beth, now Rick." Smiling my mind wonders back, "Hey, remember when we first met him...at the quarry? You threw that string of squirrels at him when he pissed you off?"

"Yeah…Son of a bitch left Merle...but then offered ta go with me ta get him. Could tell when we were out lookin' he'd be a stronger leader then Shane."

"Guess you were right," I sigh as I lean my head onto his shoulder.

"I miss them...all of them," Daryl says, something I rarely hear.

"I do too. But, we will see them all again."

"Yeah, maybe. And if'n we do, remind me ta hit Carl upside his head."

"Why?" I chuckle.

"Let's just say…old times sake."

"Hershel will have your hide then."

"Good. I miss his reasonin' 'bout things."

"And Rick will probably be sitting back watching with a smirk."

"I have a feelin' he already is." Daryl breathed out as we look up towards the sunset.

The End.
