Six Minutes

I don't own Criminal Minds, or the ever-so-sexy Dr. Spencer Reid. I got this idea after watching the episode where Reid is talking to the hooker in Los Vegas, and she lights a cigarette. Natalie Strippe however, is my own creation (:

Natalie Strippe was leaning on the balcony railing of her boyfriends' apartment. She stopped twirling the cigarette between her long, slender fingers and pulled the red lighter from her back pocket. She stuck the cigarette between her lips, and flipped the lighter on. The yellow light of the fire was comforting and she held it to the end of her addiction. She inhaled deeply, feeling the familiar feeling of smoke filling her lungs. She exhaled, watching the second hand smoke disappear with the wind.

It was eight in the morning.

"Six minutes," she heard from behind her.

"What?" She asked, smiling at her boyfriend of ten months. He came up and wrapped his arms around her tiny waist.

"I said six minutes," he said, kissing her neck.

"What's that supposed to mean?" She asked, flipping her dark brown hair to the other side of her neck, allowing him better access.

"Every cigarette you smoke takes six minutes off the end of your life." He felt her stiffen in his arms and he kissed her neck again. "That's another six minutes I don't get to spend with you," he whispered in her ear and felt her relax.

Natalie giggled and asked, "Spencer, do you really want me to quit smoking?"

"Very much so. It would make kissing you much better,"

She turned her now angry green eyes on him. "Hey!"

Spencer Reid leaned forward to kiss her lightly. She had a smile on her face when he pulled away. "You know exactly how much I love your kisses," he said. "They are highly addictive, but I do not enjoy the taste or smell of smoke." He wrinkled his nose when the wind blew the smoke from her cigarette towards him.

Natalie took a long look at her boyfriend, then without a glance, smashed the lit end of the cigarette into the ash tray lying on the railing. She flipped the unlit cigarette over the edge, not bothering to watch it fall like she normally did. She threw her arms around his neck, kissing him hard on the lips.

When she pulled back, she said, "I'll quit, Spencer,"

His smile widened."Thank you, Natalie. But you know I'd still love you even if you didn't?"

She nodded. "I know, but I wanna make you happy. Also, I wanna spend those last six minutes with you."

"Good," Spencer Reid said, and kissed her again.
