Intro: Who knew Tai Chi was a spectator sport?

Tai Chi

Trowa watched as Wufei finished the final movements of the Tai Chi, his black eyes closed as they had been since he started. He finally opened them, and his gaze turned immediately to Trowa.

"It's very relaxing. You should try it sometime, I'd be more than happy to show you the movements."

Trowa cocked his head to one side. "How did you know I was here?"

"I could tell." He wandered over to where he had left his bottle of water, and where Trowa had settled on the grass, and lowered himself gracefully next to his comrade.

"You don't mind, do you?" asked Trowa, staring straight ahead.

"Not at all. As I said, I'd be happy to show you how it goes. I'm sure you'll be good at it. You have natural grace." Trowa simply nodded, and Wufei understood.

It wasn't arrogance, or even not knowing how to take a compliment; it was just agreeing with a simple fact. Winner would have blushed, and Maxwell horsed around, but there was nothing like that from Trowa. He simply accepted it and moved on; it put Wufei at ease.

"I'd like to learn," said Trowa, unexpectedly. Wufei had thought he wouldn't want to, but hid his surprise well.

"All right. Stand up." He stood himself, and as a hopeful afterthought offered his hand to help the other pilot. To his further surprise, it was accepted.

"Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. A little wider... that's good. Okay, now relax, breathe deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth... good. Follow what I do."

He took Trowa through the first few movements, stopping to correct stance and the angle of his limbs, but not often. Trowa picked it up quickly, and proved to be very easy to teach. When they'd done ten or so movements Wufei stopped and took them back to the beginning; Trowa performed perfectly all he'd learned.

"That's good. You learn fast," Wufei said with a small, rare smile. To his continuing amazement, Trowa returned it. Well, wasn't he full of surprises today? Wufei decided, just for once, to push his luck.

"If you like, we could make this a regular thing," he offered, without a trace in his voice of the shyness he suddenly felt.

Trowa nodded. "I'd like that."

A/N: There really isn't enough 5+3 in the world, is there? They're a difficult pair to write, I'll admit, but I'm game to have a go anyway! I still haven't got them together, I know, but they're well on their way, right? Reviews and criticism very welcome
