Brothers
The feeling hits Javert as soon as he enters the rebels' side.
Brotherhood.
Javert's never experienced it before, but somehow he still knows what it is. Their closeness is radiating off them and hitting Javert with great amounts of force.
For one instant, he is jealous of these stupid boys. He has no idea what it's like to love someone so much that he'd be willing to die for them and he's never met anyone willing to die for him.
A crazy thought enters his brain: he could join the rebels, learn their ways of brotherhood. He wants so much to be loved—or at least accepted—by someone.
He shakes the thought from his head. These boys are idiots. They'll never win this without what his side has—order.
Yes, he repeats to himself. Order is all we need to win.
He knows it's a lie.
