Alec blinked, rousing himself from the sort of meditative state he had gone into. It was the closest he could get to sleep now. With Embry sharing his bed, sometimes he thought he actually dreamed.
He yawned, though it wasn't needed, and curled up closer to his lover. He loved spooning with Embry, holding the warm body close… anything to do with Embry really. His love had grown even more in the past nine months as he had watched Embry's stomach grow with their child. Yes, Embry was pregnant, a phenomenon they still didn't completely understand but one they were thankful for.
Alec curled his arm around Embry's sleeping form, intent on resting his hand on Embry's flat chest in a slightly possessive gesture, but his hand didn't meet the flat, firm skin of Embry's chest. No, his hand curled around something soft, round and… squishy. "What the hell…?" He muttered pulling back to look down at his lover.
Golden eyes (for his eyes had been golden for some time now) widened and his mouth dropped open. Before him lay Embry…but not Embry. His lover was male in every sense of the word but this Embry… this Embry was very much…female. Long black hair, sharp features softened, round, firm breasts and the rounded stomach that carried their child. The sheet covered the rest of Embry's body but Alec was sure if he lifted the sheet he would not find the part of the human anatomy that made him male.
Alec put a hand on Embry's shoulder and shook him gently. "Em, Em, Embry! Wake up!"
Embry groaned and turned over slightly, blinking sleepily at him. "What? I was sleeping real good." Even his voice had gone feminine!
Alec had never really been attracted to girls before but as he stared down at Embry, who looked…stunning, long hair spread on the pillow, that slightly sleepy look on his face… Alec's eyes traveled down further. Bare chest with decently shaped, firm breast exposed to him… Alec felt his cock stirring with interest.
"Em," he said licking his lips. "I don't know how to tell you this… but you're a girl."
A/N: Because I just know someone will ask and because I don't want to write a follow-up to this, Em turned female to give birth to the child. He will turn back into a male once the after birth is gone from his body and he sleeps. He is the first shifter to get pregnant, thus they didn't know this would happen.
