Broken hearted.

Minerva threw herself at the bed, crying sadly. Holding on to an old teddy, not caring he got all filled with snot and tears.

"Minerva, are you okay," she could hear her mother ask in a worried tone, from the other side of the looked door.

"Go away," the crushed McGonagall yelled out, she just wanted to be alone.

"Sweetheart," he mother said, pressing the door handle to get her to open.

"Go away," Minerva screamed, throwing a mug that stood nearby so hardly against the door that it broke. "Go away please," she whispered, knowing her mother could not hear. She however did hear her sigh and slowly walk away.

Angry tears were running down her cheeks. How could he do this to her? How did he even dare to do it? Play her like that. Her father had been right, never trust a muggle boy. She had refused to listen, saying that her Jack was the most wonderful man in the world. He would never hurt her and not to mention that her father was being prejudice. In Minerva's eyes there was no difference between a pureblood and a muggle, both could be equally good or bad.

She was at this moment wondering how she could be that stupid, how she couldn't see it. The only reason why she had found out in the first place was that he was snogging another girl on the Hogwarts express on the way back for Christmas. She had confronted her with it, only to learn that it had gone on for a while and he didn't even seem sorry. He claimed later that he was, that he loved them both and didn't know what to do. Minerva chose not to believe his words and told him to get lost.

So here she was, crying her heart out, dreading to go back after Christmas, not wanting to face him or anyone else. She knew there would be talking in the hallways. Why couldn't he have been a decent guy? Minerva didn't know, she only decided that she would have no more heartaches. In fact she decided to never fall in love again.

This of course she realized was silly considering how young she was. It wasn't until many years later when all she cared about seemed happily married she regretted her decision, mostly because she at night felt so very lonely. She however knew that she was too old to go in search of love, so she simply let it be. Maybe it was better this way. At least she managed one thing over the years; never have her heart broken because of love ever again.
