'Dark…it's so dark in here. I hate the dark.' A little boy thought as he cowered in the corner of his cell as thunder and lightning streaked the sky outside.
'Someone…anyone…please let me out. I'm scared.'
"Monster," voices from outside his cell called. "You're a monster! And you deserve to e treated as one! I hate you! I wish you were dead!"
The little boy whimpered as he drew himself into an even smaller ball. He could feel the hatred and disgust rolling off them in waves. The little boy clutched at his ragged yukata as they continued to taunt him.
'Please, make them go away,' the little boy pleaded. He didn't want to be hurt again. 'Please let me out of here.'
Moments passed before the voices finally began to dissipate. The little boy was left alone again. 'They all hate me. I must be a monster, if I wasn't than they wouldn't leave me in here. They wouldn't hate me if I wasn't a monster.'
'I hate monsters,' the little boy thought resolutely. He could hear the storm going on outside. The basement walls had water seeping through them forming puddles in various places. He crawled towards one of them.
The little boy could see his reflection when the lightning struck. When he looked at himself he didn't see a little boy with wheat colored hair and green eyes, instead he saw a monster and turned away immediately.
He hated monsters.
