In one irreversible blow, he turned her down.

He really was trying to do the best thing. They couldn't be together. It was just too dangerous.

To dangerous for them. To dangerous for everyone involved.

He ignored the pounding in his chest, the wild beating of his heart.

And when tears came down from her eyes. He did his best not to fall apart.

And when she gave one last piercing stare, a hand reaching so very near.

He turned away. A lone tear running down his face.
