"Oh Melchior! My baby! Ow! Don't let him hurt my baby! Melchior, help me!" Where am I? Why did my mother bring me here. Why would she do this.

"Hush girl!" screamed the doctor.

"No don't touch me!" Stay away from my baby.

"Shut up, stupid girl. You did this to yourself, now you must face the consequences!" screamed the doctor. He tried to hold her down but her fear made her stronger and she faught him.

"No! Melchior!" she screamed.

"Wendla! Wendla, where are you?" Melchior was running toward the doctor's house as fast as his feet would carry him.

"Melchior! Help me!"

"I'm coming Wendla! Don't touch her!" Melchior burst through the door with a mix or horror and anger on his face. "Let her go! Now."

"Melchior!" she cried, her sobs of fear turning to tears of relief.

"Wendla, come with me, hurry!"

"I'm coming Melchior."

She needed to say his name. It made her feel safe. And right now she was so scared. She's not sure who the man was or how she knew he was going to hurt her baby, but she did. He would have hurt her too, but that didn't matter as much. She needed to keep her baby safe no matter what.

He grabbed her hand and led her away from the house, running as fast as possible. He needed to get somewhere safe so no one could hurt Wendla. He could only think of one place. The Hayloft. No one would find them there. He continued running unitl they arrived and helped her up the ladder.

"Wendla, are you okay?" asked Melchior.

"Melchior, that man, he wanted to hurt my baby, our baby, I just know it. I could feel it."

"Shush, shush. It's alright, everything will be okay. I won't let him hurt you Wendla, never. I promise."

"Melchior we have to go, far away, where no one can ever find us. If they do, they'll hurt her. They'll hurt our baby," She was in hysterics now, scared and frustrated.

"Wendla, calm down. Calm down."

"No, Melchior, we have to go, we have to go now. Melchior,-" she cried, but he cut her off.

"Okay, we'll leave. But we have to go this very minute. Before anyone notices we're missing. If we wait at all they'll find us. I will never let them hurt you or our baby, won't touch you."

"Melchior, I love you, with all my heart. I would follow you anywhere." she said crying. She held on to him like she was afraid if she let go, he'd disapear. When she did, she hugged her stomach and looked at him with loving eyes, and then at her stomach the same way. "I love you and I love our baby. I love her, Melchior."

"I love you both so much, Wendla. I've loved you for as long as I've known you. I can't bring myself to regret anything that happened here. Everything I said, it was all true. Every word. I feel you everywhere, Wendla. Wherever I go, you're with me"

He looked into her eyes and she into his and they both just knew. He'd do anything to keep her safe and with him and she'd love him until the end of the earth.

Then, suddenly as they were about to kiss, they both heard a rustling outside the loft. The sound could have easily been mistaken for an animal in the bushes, but they both knew what it was.

"Melchior, he's coming! I can hear him! Melchior!" her fear threw her straight back into the state of hysteria she was in before.

"Hurry, Wendla, we have to hurry!"
