**angels: a "modern-hearted" angel struggles to fit in with her "ancient-time" friends.

The trees shivered from the soft tug of the breeze. The clear pond water rippled from the wind's gentle tease. It was a picture perfect scene. It looked like a scene from a picture. It looked like the gently beginning of a really good movie. Slowly, the translucent shape of a small-figured girl floated down lightly. Her white robes and pale skin only made her even more transparent. Who was this person? What was this creature? The gust blew around her, enveloping her body like a protective shield. Her blue eyes were wide, and her blonde hair flying in the wind. Her blue eyes were filled with a sadness that could not be understood. She floated down, down, and then hovered just above the ground. She bent over, and picked up a flower. It was shaped like a daisy, and delicately beautiful. The rich lavender color was weaved with shades of all other colors. She looked reverently at the flower, slanting her head to it. In the wind, the flower looked as if it were nodding in return. Am I doing the right thing? The thought burned in her mind, as she looked painfully at the flower. She looked up, forced energy through her limbs, and lifted off the ground, her white, feathery wings taking her to the sky. She looked down, then faced her left palm down. White whirlwinds soared out of her hand, blending in with the breeze that swept across the clearing below her. Summoning the whirlwinds back to her, she snatched them out of the air in her left palm, diminishing them as quickly as they had emerged. Without taking a breath, she propelled herself through the air. The clearing was as beautiful is was before its visitor for a minute. Then, slowly, a single dark green leaf floated to the ground. It touched the soft grass without a sound on the outside. To the girl, who was far, far away by now, the earth and sky shook tremendously. A silent tear escaped from her sky-blue eyes. Just then, a raindrop hit her face, matching the path of her teardrop. The sky was also crying now. She had to be confident about her decision—about her vision. Evil would come, like it had never come before. The dark forces that were put to sleep millenniums back would rise again. Earth would have to be ready. All the worlds would. This was the only choice any of them had. The girl's eyes were still moist, but in her heart, she knew she was determined. She would do all she could to delay the Evil's rise. She would clear the way for the new young and determined. She had to. There was only one other option: to let the worlds die.
